Mini Advent repair

I have a pair of Advent "Mini-Advent" speakers that need new surrounds. Are surround kits available? These were a throw-in on a bigger deal so I've never heard them in proper form- Are they even worth messing with?

If by mini advents you mean Baby Advents, then sure, for the cost of a foam kit, about $13 they'll work pretty well.
I refoamed and recapped one set, I'm just starting to refoam another, and the caps just came in from Parts Express. I bought both foam kits from Rick Cobb.

Now, they may not be the finest spks but depending on where you use them, they do a pretty good job!

Ths364,

Are you aware there is also a crackerjack speaker guy in Austin? Maybe you don't need him or are already aware of him. I just wanted you to know about him in case you didn't. Mike at Austin Stereo can get you in touch with him. (Again, not affiliated with either party. Just have experience with both and have been very pleased.)

Thanks guys- I'll probably get the kit and refoam them and pass them along to someone who'll appreciate them!

Need pix to tell exactly which model they are. If the Advent 2 with the di-hedral tweeter they IMO are the wost of the original Advent series as the tweeter setup isn't very good and the crossover is junk. The plus side it the mid-woofer is superb and the box is quite good. I 're-did' mine as econo-waveguide AK project speakers with a waveguide tweeter and precision cross-over ant they are quite good compact speakers now.

I don't know about others but, the Advent Minis I own say "Advent Mini" on the label. The label is on the rear just above the speaker connectors.

These are definitely "Advent Mini" with a single tweeter- not dihedral. That reminds me though that I should confirm tweeter function before going ahead with the surround order. I don't really need these, but I'm willing to fix them rather than trash them.

A good choice to do the refoam yourself on a pair of speakers you don't plan on keeping. It's a good opportunity to get refoaming experience. I'll be doing the same when my JBLs need a refoam.
