Thought I'd share the latest incarnation of this (garage) rig as it's performing at a fairly high level compared to what I've done in the past.
Speakers: Infinity QLS-1's which have been recapped and generally refurbished back to like new operating condition.
Amplification: A pair of Threshold s/300 (one is optical bias) which have been recapped and have had main power supply caps values increased by roughly two and half times their original value
Preamp: Audio Research LS2B Mkii (remote capable) with either Aperex, Minwat SQ, or Siemens 6dj8
Source: mostly streaming MOG through Windows laptop > Musical Fidelity V-Link 192 USB/SPDIF converter > Grant Fidelity Tube DAC-11
Interconnects: Cardas SPDIF, Blue Jeans XLR/RCA using Belden 1505F coax with Neutrik XLR's and Canare RCA's
Cables: Audio Quest Hyperlitz Midnight on mid and HF drivers and Tara Labs on LF drivers
Extras: Distributed bass set up with a pair of 1.5 cuft sealed subs using 12" Dayton Titanic Mk IV sub drivers each powered by 150wpc Dayton plate amps with low pass at 80 Hz
Room: 16x20x8 with following acoustic treatments
- 2'x4' 2" thick 703 absorption panels at side wall and ceiling first reflection
- 2'x2' 4" thick 703 absorption panel located in center of front wall
- 703 superchunk broad band corner absorbers/bass trap in front wall corners
- Roxul SafeNSound absorption in left rear corner
- DIY scatter panels behind main speakers with 2'x4' 4" thick 703 behind
- DIY 120 degree poly diffuser behind listening position
