Very NICE! Not too often you see a Mediterranean Style.
I still think a Miracord 10F would look nice in there, but then I'm prejudiced with them in my '65 Electra VIII and 65 Futura VI. Surprisingly a 50H will fit right in the hole for the 10F.

It has been years since I plugged this in. The 1010 was working. I fear the idler will need replaced but who knows it could be fine! I will get to this hopefully over the winter or this coming spring.

After taking a little extra time to REALLY look at some of these consoles, I must confess that they are starting to grow on me! Just to name one quality that I really like about them are the real wood cabinets. When you guys acquire a console, do you have to pick up locally or can these be shipped? Seems like these require very careful handling. Just wondering.

Shipping gets EXPENSIVE really fast. Better if you have a Mini van, pickup, or Stationwagon. I've gotten mine "LOCAL". Furthest I've gone for a console is to THERED1's in the DC area. And he beat out the next furthest into Southern PA, by about 7 miles.
A good friend gave me mine and he even delivered it!

Thanks for your replies, Larry and Apple. I kinda figured that you'd want to drive to do the pickup yourselves. Those consoles are just too nice to be put into the hands of the gorillas(as you call them, Larry!)at UPS or FEDEX. I worried enough as it was when I got my 500C & 400...both were ok, though.

Start by looking in Craigslist. I found roughly 3/4 of the consoles I have there. Search out 200 miles or so. If you find one a bit farther out, and you really like it, take the wife and stop for Dinner somewhere nice on the way back. Make it one of those "Oh by the way, I'm got a hankering for a steak or Surf and turf" surprise things on the way back. Or let her buy a pair of nice shoes, a handbook(purse), dress, whatever. Maybe not shoes, they are still in short supply after Emelda Marcos cornered the market on closets full of them!

Even though I am not ready to start the restoration process I downloaded the manual.

Outputs are TR35144 (SK3009). On page 12.
also on page 12 is a BIAS Modification FISHER required shops to perform if/when they came in for service. If yours still has the 4 pots, it hasn't been done. But don't fret over it. The Temp compensating diode is NLA and there is no data on it.

Here's an underskirt shot of the 49A amp in the 65-66 Custom Electra. It's a HYBRID amp, with a Tube driver, interstage transformers, and 4 germanium transistors(2 per channel) for the final stage. The 59A in the Futura and Ambassador is mainly the same except for 8 transistors (4 per-side) for more output wattage .
This was as I got it. It has been recapped and had some resistors changed.

That is a KEEPER for sure, Larry. Just beautiful!! At first glance it looked to me like it just came off of the showroom floor. I'm beginning to realize(finally)why you love these Fisher consoles so much.(I'm slow, but beginning to come around) I'm positive that your efforts to get these and then restore them to their former beauty was well worth it!!

Bringing this one up from the dead. I visited Steve (Apple Scruff) this past weekend. After some serious deliberation, the '66 mediterranean was gutted of the tuner/preamp, amp, and turntable (plus small parts and wiring), to be parts donor for my 65 CE VIII. We both felt it would probably be better to use it as a parts donor than trying to move it intact and trying to restore it. The cabinet on this model is definately an acquired taste, and my taste isn't THAT bad (or good).
The components will be cleaned up and recapped, and resistors replaced as necessary, and will be used to keep the E-490 going.
