Picked up a USB microscope.

Cool little item, not very expensive ($69).

Nice little unit. Love it.

In due course, I'll discover its limitations.

For now, I love what I see.

I've been wanting one of those since I saw it in the Parts Express catalog. Does it send a video stream, or is it still pic only?

Yeah I want one to. I saw one member show where they can determine angle of tracking with it. I wonder if you could make a slow motion video of a stylus tracking in the groove, that would be fun to watch.

Awesome!

I wonder if I could use one while I solder, like surgeons do. I'm having a heck of time with my magnifying head band. And I do my work right right in front of my 39" TV, anyway.

You need one of those big lenses with the lamps like a jeweler uses. Some one gave me one and they are great.

Floor stand for USB Microscope

My scope arrived today. I had a reading lamp waiting to be re-purposed into a stand for it. Here's a 4 pic synopsis:








It works well. The thumb screw in the microscope clamp will need to be replaced with a bolt, but it's no big deal. The ball/stud comes from a worn out steering rod end from a riding lawn mower.

This will get a ball mount, too. If you've ever used a USB microscope, you'd see why extra reach is an asset.

These USB Microscopes are so handy. They are dead useful for inspecting bug speck surface mount parts.
