I had my amp fixed ( a total overhaul for my McIntosh mc2300)at a small one person shop in Torrance CA, on Cabrillo ave) . Dave is a great guy who works on TVs and all hifi. He does everthing from TTs all the way to tube gear. He has been doing this for over 30 years.

I have been using him for a few months ( TT, cassette deck, amp...) and so much appreciate his honesty.

Totally agree. These craftmen have been replaced by shops that just send back to the manufacturer....
People like Dave or Terry D are rare!

I think very reasonable: He rewired my Thorens TT (needed new RCA cables, oiled the motor and all parts for $35. It took 48 H to get back to me.

For my Mc2300, he took 4 weeks but went through everything and used upgraded parts. He did not hesiate to call Mcintosh for questions.
All in all the overhaul was under $500 with parts and labor.

As I mentioned he does this as a passion like Terry D. I just couldn`t imagine shipping this 130lbs amp to Terry.
Dave also does all TVs.

+1! Google showed me this thread last month when my Jolida 102B needed work. Dave was exactly what I was looking for...thanks for the tip, yaya97! He contacted the manufacturer for me too, and did some good diagnostic work finding the problem I had. Very reasonable price.

Dave just got my speakerlab 4s for a recap today !. I am moving soon to San D but will send my stuff ( or drive) when needed.
 
Thanks for posting this. I searched for a good repair shop in LA a few weeks ago and this thread popped up. I took my old Pioneer amp to Dave's shop and he was able to fix it up like new. Just to update his phone number has changed. I called the one listed here and he has a new one (310.533.0555). He also has a website now. avsusa.net. I highly recommend Dave!
