As per request of AKer stupidhead I will put up a brief look at his rebuild. He is doing an all out assult on his 2230, choosing the AMRG resistors and Mundorf EVO Oil input caps on the Preamp Board along with LED's and plug upgrade and in some signal path positions Silmic II matched to 1% etc etc!

1st things first this 2230 had a weird push button click style power button with no safety cap.

Need to replace switch and safety cap, get mounting hardware and the correct power switch button. I may have it all here.

ok all is well, new switch and safety cap, and had some mounting hardware. I have a NOS correct 2230 power switch button in transit.

and of course with new switch in I am listening and move the receiver a bit on the bench and it shuts off! I am like, ok what did I do. Seems that if the power cable was flexed close to the plug a certain way it will shut off and on. So the plug upgrade is really not an upgrade at this point but necessary.

This is how the Mundorf EVO Oil's will look at the Preamp Board inputs C401/C402. This is really the first very good film that is usable in that it sounds wonderful is of a compact size and can be installed and secured in position well.

Power supply is done and running:

My go to 2230 P/S set up-Nichicon KS with Silmic II's and diode uprgades.

Voltage is adjusted to 35.6V and is rock solid stable.

Next up are the coupling and power cap, these will be all "audio grade" Nichicon KG, the power cap is going from 40mm to 35mm with new 35mm clamp that fits perfect. While the 3 large caps are out I also like to get the right side amp board done because the access is all the more easy.

Looking Good Pat!!!!

After I complete the 1060...:music:...Going to Update the 2230 from the outcome of what has been done to 2230/1060.

I still need to Recap Luxman R-1050, Pioneer SX-1250 and LV-105U, LV-105....Plus picking up Fisher 500B (Going to Terry)..Never stops....:thmbsp:

ok so on to the amp boards:

*Mica and thermal compound refreshed on the outputs
*Thermal compound refreshed at bias diodes to heatsink
*All amplifier adjustments done per the SM
*After running on the edge of insanity for 4 hours (Perculator-Slice and Case) temp is checked at outputs and above outputs at heatsink and all are within approx 2 degrees.
*Input cap 5% Wima Film
*Silmic II are matched to 1%
*All caps are proper fit and lead space and fit flush to the board

Before we move on to the Preamp and Phono Board lets talk about the Marantz Film caps:

.47uf for Phono Qty 4:

Here are the 2 types you will see on your board-

This is a possible replacement-

Here are the 2 types you will see on the Preamp input at .22uf-

I like these:

I have listened to all of these and will comment just waiting for some burn in time!

Looks good Pat. As we spoke about, I hope to use this 2230 in vinyl ripping and anything you can do to enhance the phono section is (within reason) desired!
