I want to thank everyone who took the time and effort to vote. Thank you, too, to all those who were nominated, in recognition of their contributions to our group. The list includes several past winners, perennial nominees, and well-deserved. Many AK luminaries populate this list, others are making their debut. Some are AK charter members, and others, comparatively recent arrivals. Some names put forth were accompanied by heartfelt statements of just how much that person meant to the nominator. While I will spare anyone possible embarassment, I will say that we all need to remember just how much a single act of kindness, on our part, which we ourselves may discount as trivial, can mean to another person, or even a small host of individuals.
You may think you mean nothing to the world, but you may mean the world to one person.
This year's selection process was dramatic, as always. (Oh, sorry, I guess you don't get to see the counts change, day-by-day.) The final tally had but one vote separating the winner from the honourable mentions.
