Hey AK,

Bad night! I am about to try to get an old Fisher SA300 up and running, and in looking on the internet for some info about the piece, I seem to have 'infected' my laptop. I gotta say; It really PISSES ME OFF when you just try to do something simple like a 'search' for information.....and in the process you end up trashing your computer!! I've spent the last 2 hours trying to 'restore' it......but, I suppose that's another subject for the 'Rant' Forum.

As to the 300..... if anyone has a Factory Service Manual or any info about bias setting, AC or DC balance setting....test points, or appropriate voltages...... I'd appreciate it. I did manage to find a schematic for an SA300B.....and I'm unsure if this is my amp or not. But, close. Anyway.....I'd like to set this amp up properly, but unsure of all the 'factory' settings..... As always, any help will be greatly appreciated. WC

Also post in Fisher forum. I use Windows 8 that seems to have immunity for most viruses. Also use Norton or AVG anti-virus. Never upload anything unknown that requests to make changes to your computer.

Mozilla browsers are pretty much immune to attack ... use what the hackers use, I think!! LOL I started waaaay back with Netscape version 2, and have been using Firefox after that stopped. Can't stand IE, but had to use it for work and found it would just copy anything a Mozilla browser did, but not done as well.

Hey Tom,

Been on the phone with Toshiba today trying to get this virus gone! I'd spent $50 with them back in October last year for the same kind of thing, and they wanted another $50 to do it again now. It ended up with me 'accidentally' activating the system restore function.....and I went back 48 hours ago.....and that seems to have cured my computer. The 'pop-up' ads that I was getting seem to have ceased. But, more importantly, the 'tapping' function on the touch-pad has been disabled again. I have a problem of dropping my thumbs on to the pad while typing...... and it 'tapping' is 'enabled'......it REALLY screws with my ability to send a message. Especially when I'm in a WEB function.....it will some times cause me to 'link' to some place I do NOT want to go! So, I have to keep 'tapping' disabled. However, when this virus hit, it not only re-enabled the Tapping....but it blew the driver out so I couldn't go in and disable it. Attempting to re-load the driver didn't help either, as the tab with all the properties still didn't show the 'tapping' on/off selection.

Oddly, after doing a 'system restore'.....my 'tapping is back to 'off'....which is how I want it. BUT.......I went in and found that the 'selection' box for 'on' or 'off' still isn't present. And, the software driver for the device has changed from 'Synaptic' to Elan. Go figure....... Hey, it's working the way I want it to........so, I guess I should be happy. And, I didn't have to spend another $50!! Lucky me!!

OK..........back to the business of trying to get the SA300 up and running!!

Thanks Tom!

Sony & Don, I'll check the data bank and see what I can find, and also post in Fisher Forum. Good suggestions! Thanks for the thoughts.......

Tom D.

I didn't find the SA-300 guide. I know I have either the 300 or the 300B. PM me your address and I'll make a copy and mail it. I should probably make a scan and post it at the same time.

I have the factory service guide for the 300B. I'm out the door to work and will post it later. I'll look for the SA300 also later on at the same place I found the SA300B. I just got one myself that needs a little cleaning up, hopefully we can put out minds together.
PS-It took me weeks to find the proper schematic from Fisher (not Sams).

Thanks Don, I'll confine any further comments regarding the 300 to the Fisher thread. WC
