Other than records and tapes? Check this out. I've been researching where to get a good DVD and SACD player that will downmix to 4 channel. I found it today:
THe Sony DVP-NS90V DVD player will play SACDs of all kind, DVD, MP3 discs, audio CDs. It has 5.1 analog RCA outputs so you can pipe it direct into your quad receiver or amp's descrete inputs. Then run the audio setup, and you can downmix dolby 5.1 into 4 channels. YOu can also adjust sound for the size of speaker and distance from the listening area. Lets you turn off the sub and center channels unlike some other models I looked at.
It was a fairly good price I think. It was $215 with tax out the door. It was quick to set up and easy as hell to use. It doesn't have one of those uber huge remotes, and even operates any sony TV.
It sounds great with my QRX-7001 in my bedroom. i will eventually move it to the listening room where the 9001 is, but not until I get that settled in.
Check out the pics below of the unit and the setup menus. It will even do 1080i if you need to have the HD pic.
Moves are great with the surround sound possible now. Next is some good music on SACD.......
