6th Garage sale this morning and the lady asks if I'm looking for anything in particular. I say "old stereo equipment?"...She says "yeah but its so old I don't think its worth sellin". I told her to go get it and I got this fully functioning albeit dirty SX737 for a sawbuck. All lights and channels work and not a hint of static or pops in the controls....F I N A L L Y!!! a nice hit for 2003 prices.

Now...Do I keep this and sell the Kenwood Trio TK66?
I'll plug the AR4x's into her tomorrow. Standby for an update.:music:

Nice! The 727/737 are among my favorite receivers. Beautiful styling, enough power, nice warm sound. I have a 727 in my garage that works and looks great. Nice find.

Assuming you are familiar with the Kenwood.....
try the Pioneer for a few days.....
Your "ears" will tell yourself which one to keep.
I'm a Pioneer addict but the Kenwood sure has the "cool" factor going for it.

Keep them both. The Kenwood looks to be from about 67 or so. 25wpc. the Pioneer is '74 to 76. It's got some features that a lot of receiver didn't have, mainly the Recording setup. It allows you to record from one source and listen to another. IIRC only the 828 had that feature, and no other PIONEER.

The 737 is right in the middle of the x3x series. Pretty much the sweet spot. It puts out 35 wpc rms, but is capable of some more due to conservative design. Mine has been scoped and tested out to 42WPC using the FTC regulations from '74 to test. It's been totally recapped, rebuilt power supply, preamp, tone control board, and amp boards. There are a few known trouble maker transistors that need an Exorcism. Look up the 737 restoration threads in the PIONEER Forum.
