Saul B Legendary Marantz 19

PLEASE DON'T BREAK ANY OF THE PUBLIC FORUM RULES BY ASKING ABOUT BUYING AND SELLING. Thank you so much.

Attention: No Marantz's were hurt in this transformation. All original parts still exist.

Though I would do something a little different. Of course I love the European look, so I had to make the 19 in European Style and I did also make it in a silver, with and without the uper lettering and "serial#"

This faceplate posted a few more challenges than the others. I also chose not to screen print this one, but instead I did "Laser Etching" so no screen print (Will never wear off). Once again, Marantz did not chosse to use any standard fonts which most seem to think they did, but they changed things just a little bit in order to make things difficult (Alot of hand drawn art work).

The custom calibrate badge is aluminum with what looks like a standard beveled edge, yet it was just off enough where I had to have a special cutter made to replicate that beveled edge.

More pictures with the silver plate soon to come this week.

All in all, I always love the Euorpean look, so once again here is my newest creation. Thanks.

P.S. One day I must buy a real camera instead of using my iPhone.

Marantz scope...

What exactly does the scope show you?
I have an old Crown FM-1 that has the scope capability but don't know how to use it. The FM-1 has poor reception scale built in so I don't know what a scope would do to improve the issue.

Great Work - really nice craftmanship!! Though I do prefer the original faceplate by far. The 19 is a piece of eyecandy in it's own class.

I'm quite sure, that Saul didn't have his hands on that model. AFAIR the 18 was the last Saul-related model.

best regards
Freddy

The 18 was the last product fully developed and ordered into production while he was there but a number of products were in various stages of development as he and his team walked including the 19, 16, SLT12.

If I had a 19 I would be sending an email right now. I think the faceplate makes the receiver look so much better and I never thought I would say that about a black faceplate other than McIntosh.

Thanks. I wasn't sure either but just like the way it looked up top there, his middle initial was perfect "B" makes me wonder if thats where the "B" series came from ? I've seen the word "Legendary" in a lot of the old Marantz ads and of course the serial number is the serial number to my unit. Just thought I would do something little bit different with that blank space up there.

Saul ude!

Very amazing customization !
Why though did you not use machined aluminum hex'sor something even more unique...handles, etc.
Not that it matters , I just like handles

Just for Marantz. I have made reproduction faceplates for a few models so far.
2230/2245/2270/2275/2325/4400/and the 19.
My love is for the Marantz....

Fantastic custom work. Every bit as good as the original Marantz craftsmanship.
I'll bet you could do an excellent job recreating that elusive door on the front of the Marantz Model 500.
There is definitely interest here on AK.
I think I'd take two if they looked original.
Obviously, having a spare could come in handy... one day.:D

I've read the forms and seen a lot of interest for this particular part "Door" I have what I think is the correct specs for it also but my main concern would be that everyone was happy with it and the reason why I think some people wouldn't be, would be the color match, anodizing not cared for properly tends to change color, smoke, UV rays "Direct sunlight" cleaning products "anything bleach-based is absolutely terrible for anodizing" so making a new door with fresh new anodizing and matching units that are 40+ years old with all kinds of different colors because of time might not work out too well but will think more about it. Thanks and thanks guys for the nice replies....
