Best Comedy Movies

What would be your short list of best comedy movies? I liked:

Animal House (naturally)
Slap Shot
The Pink Panther movies (with Peter Sellers)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Naked Gun

Caddyshack
Used Cars
Wedding Crashers
Annie Hall
Moonstruck
Play It Again, Sam

Good topic.

Anyone (correction, any male) who hasn't seen Wedding Crashers needs to rent it, now.

A couple I might add would be "Dr. Strangelove" (1964) Sellers pre-"Panther". Another one is "Freebie and the Bean" (1972) James Caan & Alan Arkin 2 Frisco cops-one staid (Arkin) & the other crazy (Caan) do battle w/the bad guys. "Blazing Saddles" (1974) OK, this is 3..So sue me...Still funny. Another Mel Brooks film that I about pee my pants over is "The Producers" (1968). A bit dated, but still hirallious. "Carmen Ghia"- Omigawd !!

Another..."It's a Mad,Mad,Mad,Mad,Mad,Mad,Mad World" (1963) OK, how could a movie w/virtually every comic in the business back then appear in it & NOT be funny ?One of the best scenes-the redoubtable Ethel Merman slipping & landing square on her redoubtable keester near the end of the flick...A bit slow at times, when it's finished, you're TIRED. A classic.

Thread sent me on a semi-annual hunt to see if one of the funniest (and most unobtainable) movies ever was any more available, or affordable, if available, and lo & be damned- finally in June, it is being released on DVD:

The Loved One

Can't farking wait.

Has anyone but me seen "The Terror of Tiny Town"?

Comes on sometimes on the really late show. It is not one of the best Comedies but it is definitely unique.

Off the top of my head:

1) ANYTHING by Monty Python

2) Shaun Of The Dead

3) Shaolin Soccer

4) Dumb & Dumber (original)

5) There's Something about Mary

....Many more I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Oh...I DID forget something! MST3K (Mystery Science Theatre 3000).

Ok. It was a TV show....but it made fun of BAD movies and the show positively ROCKED!

I miss it. I sure wish a cable channel would pick it up for repeats.

Surely you're joking................

No one's mentioned "Airplane" yet??

The 70s Woody Allens all were great especially "Sleeper" and "Everything You Wanted to know about Sex".

MASH was pretty good too
