Ebay weird buyer issues

So I'm selling my TU-9900 on E bay...
Some one bid & won...
He made the payment.
BUT
A couple of the pictures show it sitting on to of one of my CA-3000's and it was only a partial pix in 3 of the MANY pix's.

And the guy was OUTRAGED that I tried to gip him by telling him the auction was ONLY for the tuner ( you know READ THE AD !)

People these days...

Problem is you can't expect common sense and emotional intelligence as a rule because it is not at all as common as we would like it to be.
Sad fact, but ads have to be placed very simply without anything open for variable interpretation. Some people DO choose what to believe regardless of what your written facts are, and to prove themselves "correct"? They will die of a stroke to spite you.

I would cancel the transaction, tell eBay you broke it when trying to pack it. There is nothing to lose, and return the buyers money.
 
Did the cancel.. refunded the $$....BUT I will drag this out to the bitter end ( obeying all the rules ) .....I have had a LOT of good transactions.. and a few clambakes..
It's back up again.... Hoping for a NON-IDIOT.... and one that can READ.. and UNDERSTAND.... NOT...

There is no such thing as 'common sense'. Expect stupidity. Show and mention *only* the sale item/s.
 
I am stunned, really, I can't believe the way some people think. I must admit I have been puzzled when I see ads on ebay stating ad nauseam :D (pun not intended) what the ad refers to in a picture showing more than one item, even when the description is perfectly and crystal clear.

Do they really think you are going to 'cave in' and send all the items in the picture!!!
 
I've sold on ebay for quite some time and I make it a practice to show only the item that is up for auction with nothing else in the pic and make it clear exactly what it is that I'm selling. I still get questions that indicate that the sender either never read a word of the ad or has a serious reading comprehension issue.
 
I do the ol' white-sheet background. Only the item for sale is in the pic. I don't want them to see any other items, or anything in the background. You never know, they see a stack of expensive stuff that is accidentally in the pic, they might think "I can scam this guy, he can afford it". Call me paranoid.

Plus I have seen too many threads like this on various forums about idiots not reading the descriptions...

Get yourself a sheet ;)
 
It is getting worse, that's for sure. I've been a registered eBay user since '97 with 440+, 100% positive feedback with the transactions being more purchases than sales but it's not too wide a gap and my experience was without a blip until the last 5 or 6 years, when it seems a lot more scammers have shown up. As a seller, you're not doing yourself any favors by not either taking another photo that doesn't show things not included or cropping such items out before inserting them in your listing. Like others have suggested, try to only picture what's for sale. It's also become more important to not only point out defects in the description but to also show them in photos. Using eBay definitely sucks a lot more than it used to but can still be used successfully from either side of the sale by using care and being deliberate and perfectly clear. That's not to say you won't have any problems but they should be lessened considerably. If you choose to never use eBay then you'll obviously never have a problem with it but personally, I can't afford to buy a piece of equipment to insert into my system for full or nearly full retail, only to discover that I don't like it as much as the piece I'm using currently and turn around and sell in AK for far under retail. If I could afford that I'd have kept all the cool stuff I've owned over the years and be filling shelves with it for an extensive collection. :)
 
To be fair, your ad does have a bit of ambiguity in it:

"What you see IS what you get. ( except for the RCA jacks & external ant cables )"
 
I don't know....his response to you shows he was non-Enlish speaking and probably enduring pressures of having to deal with that complication "clock and click a ticking"....brain freeze.

Doesn't help with a listing going bad though.
 
Some sellers just don't learn their lessons. I can clearly see a misleading lava lamp near the Sui in one of the pictures in the ad. Big mistake!!!
 
I just looked at the listing.

What reasonable person could possibly think the other unit was included is beyond me. The language clearly stated as a Sansui TU 9900 tuner and there were no direct pictures of the other unit.

I've currently got a tuner listed myself. Now I am wondering whether I should have specified the kitchen counter is not included. :scratch2:
 
You could specify it 'not included' as a joke, and if your camera showed up as a reflection you could also say that isn't included either. :D
 
I'm gonna find a picture of a car for sale and insist they throw in the driveway and the house with it.
 
eBay shifted the right to be a total ass from the seller to the buyer and they fanatically encourage it. It's a business model - and it works.
