It only happens when you play old Dean Martin records...

I hear the two martinis are for the listener, and should be consumed at least 15-20 minutes prior to listening. Dry is best.

Go to DCC Blowout (an e-Bay store, good guy Tom Port) and look up Music For A Bachelor's Den. This is the quintessential two martini music.

Sound perception is a mental thing. Imagine you just come home from a harried day at the office. Your nerves are jangled.
You plop yourself down in your listening chair, knock back a couple of double expressos, then put on some hard punk metal arena rock music (Spinal Tap?) on your first generation Yorx CD player coming at you through your 300 watt Soundesign amp and speakers. Is that a "two martini" sound? Do I have to ask? Instead, imagine a pleasant day at the beach. Afterwards, you clean up and sit back in your easy chair with your slippers and silk smoking jacket. Your wife brings you a nice cold martini while you put on some Sinatra or Norah Jones on your Rega turntable, playing through a TOTL Marantz pre-amp/powr amp and some English high end Spendors or Harbeths. One martini and you're already listening to the "Two martini" sound. Music is a state of mind. Some music through some systems are acetyl choline and norephinerphine; other rigs are pure endorphins. |

Soft, warm, yet powerful...does Sinatra or the Scorpions well with it's definitely unique sound. Great bass and smooth mids.
