I know the Dahlquist DQ10 is well thought of and sought after by many collectors. Maybe someone can help you with the ones you are inquiring about. **Ah! I see Bolly did! **

I did some huntin' independantly myself... managed to turn up nada, zip, and bubkis.

Dahlquist photos

Here they are. They had the original boxes, which had $1500 on them. She said "that must be a mistake" and said how about $50 for the pair. I said OK. Sorry about the poor photos.

They sound great. Also, they are some of the best looking speakers I have ever seen. Grills with walnut veneer on the edges - what a classy touch. Also, they are on risers which is always a good idea. Keeps the water damage away. Anyway, I got lucky.

Found them in the 1989 October "Audio"

They did have a list price of $1500/pair on these speakers with tuned port, 30 to 24 freq response, 92 spl efficiency, 20 watt rec min, crossover @ 125, 400, & 3.5 k, wood finish was optional, with black grills. A great find!

The M909i was the top of the line M version in 1989, which also featured the M907i, M905, M905L, and the M903.

Other than the name absolutely nothing in common with the company founded by Jon Dahlquist. I believe the name was sold to a Canadian company. The surviving engineer from the original Dahlquist who had designed the DQ-20 and DQ-LP1 variable electronic crossover had already left to start his own speaker company(Alon).

Clarification: Carl Marchisotto was the engineer behind the last of the original Dahlquist designs which was the DQ-20. The flagship DQ-10 was a Jon Dahlquist and Sol Marantz creation.
Jon Dahlquist was involved in a severe car accident in the mid 80's? and subsequently lost control of the company and namesake. Marchisotto went on to found Alon which he still runs today I believe.

Sorry about the delay. It's a 1" dome tweeter and an 8" woofer with an 8" passive.

Ressurecting this thread from 2006. Just picked these Dahlquist M-909 Beauties up from CL seller. I took the risers off as they were pretty messed up. Some steel wool and Howard's Restore a Finish and Feed and Wax and they are absolutley beautiful. They have 2 8" Active Vifa Woofers a 5" Vifa Mid, and a 1" Vifa Ferrel Fluid dome tweeter with 2 ports on the bottom. The sound is incredible. They had a $1500 MSRP in 1987. They are still supported and have parts available at Regnar.com which is owned by some Ex Dahlquist employees. I just sold a set of HPM 150's and replaced them with these. IMHO they sound better than the HPM's. YMMV. I'm in heaven. $125 on CL.
