Pioneer cs-77 anybody got?

I was given a set of these(50wpc)Also one other question to match my 636 for xmas.Were these the original recommended speaker for this pioneer when new.They sound very good and are in very good condition.any photos Doc?

I got both the CS-77's and the SX-636. The CS-77's are in storage. I never hooked them to the SX-636. One of these days...........

I'd always thought the CS-77 was pretty efficient, but I didn't quite expect it to be as high as the 108 dB listed on the spec sheet posted here. Of course I assume that's 1 watt, 1 meter, and can be compared directly to other speakers.

That being the case, it looks like a 25 wpc SX-636 would have plenty of power to drive them. Maybe I should experiment with my pair of CS-77's, and my SX-636. The CS-77's add nice bottom and presence to rock in the basement, powered with a 40 wpc Yamaha RX-series receiver.

One feature of the latticework grille that may not be immediately appreciated is that it protects the drivers beneath. Little worry about poking anything through the drivers, especially nice for those who can't resist moving and otherwise futzing with speakers.

I remember the CS-77 being called Pioneer's intro speaker for true high-fidelity sound. I had a pair of the bigger CS-88A & CS99A and loved their smooth, accurate sound. I played them for hours at a time at some volume, and never got fatigued listening to them.

I didn't think the 77's were that old.i really haven't had a chance to fully enjoy them yet.My plan is to pair them with a set of Infinity Qa's.The qa's have a unusual sound to them that works well in conjuction with speakers with a low bottom end. Anyway, if you walked into a Pioneer dealer in 1975 and bought the 636 what speaker options were available?Was it the hpm's?
