Altec 604E horn

Howdy folks.

I just picked up a pair of Altec 604E duplex drivers, one of which is missing the center horn. Anyone have one for sale or know where one can be had? Also, will one from any different models fit?

Nice score! I know nothing about the 604 except what I've read, so I can't help on the horn issue. I expect that it will be a very rewarding project. What are your plans for them?

I am actually planning on getting them out to Altec affectionatos by Ebay. I was wondering if it is wisest to list them individually, as a pair as is, or as a pair with the part replaced if I can find one. Any thoughts anyone?

Great Plains Audio since you need a diapragm to run the horn. Yea, and use a plastic screwdriver.

or be very careful. first time i fiddled with the horn mounting on my Jensen i poked a hole in the dust screen for the tweeter. It's about two inches from the diaphragm of the tweeter and the pase plug is in the way but still. Any non magnetic screwdriver would suffice, i wouldn't trust torque you can get with a plastic srewdriver.


in any case, are you missing the tweeter or just the horn? If it's both then you might list them as a "win this one and you can pick up the other for a %age" type auction and leave it up to the winner. Do they match at all(cones, ser. no.s)? If not you may as well list them singularly and the winner can find thier own tweeter solution.

Thank you all for your input . I ended up listing them separately on Ebay and they are both sold. The good one went with a Buy it Now of $350 to Taiwan. The fixer upper to eastern Canada for $96.
