Does anybody know if a Dual 1225 turntable will fit in a 1015 / 1015F base? I have a 1015F with a nice United Audio wood base that I am parting out and have a chance to buy a 1225 with a home made base. I'd like to put the 1225 in my base.

Will it work ?

I dont know for sure, but Im inclined to say yes. Just picked up a UA deco base from Stereofisher for one of my 1019's and I recall him saying that 1009 and up in the 10xx series and 1225 would fit (maybe some others but that part stuck with me for some reason).

Picked up the 1225 w/ original manual, AT cartridge but in cheap home made base and w/o dust cover, pair of Advent 2W that need to be refoamed and an old Wollensak R2R (didn't want it but he insisted I take it to get the deal LoL) for $40.00.

Was told everything worked but I think his defination of worked and mine are a bit different. LoL.

Anyway, got it home and checked on the base and it looked like it would work. I removed the top off the home made base and then removed the 1015F from it's base and checked the template from the 1225 against it and voila! perfect match.

I proceeded to drop the 1225 into it's new, nice United Audio base and it looks great. Then fired it up and one channel is much louder and there is a ground hum like noise.

I didn't have much time to investigate so I guess I have some work ahead of me but I was at least happy to learn that the bases are interchangeable.

Good to know.
I have some different duals in various states of repair that may be ideal for this kind of swap

Try cleaning the contacts on the headshell. My 1219 had that problem. Lightly sand it with fine sandpaper. dont over do. couple swipes, thats all...
