G22000 the highest price

These units are much rarer in Europe then they were ( are ) in America, so it´s not surprising, though it is really crazy.

Law of supply and demand, you see?

I never understood the 2 chassis design and the side mounted connectors of these Sansui receivers... They look very awkward IMO..

Those European prices are insane. I will admit that the baby big G does give one some good bragging rights. However, IMHO you can find a whole lot better sound for that money. Around a grand in US dollars would be what I would consider a decent return on cash verses bragging rights, but head towards 4 grand or more and you are just throwing money away if you are looking for top quality sound. Though make no mistake, they are impressive in person, however, I always thought the sound was a bit sterile for my tastes.

Especially when there is the chance that you may not win both halves, though this guy was lucky enough to do that, which may have contributed to the high prices as people wanted to win both halves.

The US prices are looking a bit low compared to what they used to go for.

Those US prices are MUCH lower than they were a year or two ago. I sold one last year for well over 2 grand and that was the going price in the US at the time.

Those are some great prices. For the ones here in the US anyway.

Hell, the G-9000's have been fetching just as much if not more than those G-22000's!

Economy

Maybe those E-BAY sales reflect the USA economy right now, with gas going up to $4.00 a gallon :tears:, one year ago it was $2.75 a gallon. Last year corn was 5 ears for a $1.00, today 1 ear was $0.60. Last year according to Sansui data base the average price was hovering around $1000 for a G-22000. I agree with you Hifi_nut, sometimes it gets "really crazy", I believe thats when its refered to as "E-PREY" on you. :nono:

One sold here in Hong Kong (in a retail shop) for just over $2K about a month ago. It was fresh from Japan, and in excellent condition, but still by comparison those U.S. prices look cheap! Maybe the influence of AK (where people decided they didn't sound all that good, after all) is greater there?!

The Big G's

Don't know about "didn't sound all that good" part, I think it is equal to the G-9000 :music:. I bought one two years ago local for $600.00 and decided it took up way to much space and 100lbs is to bit much for most stereo cabinets/stands, so I sold it for what I paid for it and keep the G-9000db. Didn't really care for the two piece design either, was always afraid of the cord (the weak link) that connected the two pieces together would screw-up and I would not find a replacement .

I think the economy is a big part of lower US prices. It might also be the new-found leeriness of US sellers to ship overseas. Look for a pick-up in prices in the Fall, as Paypal finally gets their act together and starts protecting the smaller sellers from some of the credit card chargeback scams.

Being raised in the buisness world I was taught "The customer is always right", from what I have read that is where paypal has gone, not sure if chargeback is a large enough scam to worry, I have bought stuff off e-bay that wasn't as describe and felt like I should do a charge back but have not as of yet, My mother worked most of her working career at a small time clothing store and told stories of a small percent of customer's they felt would wear a dress one time and bring it back for their money :scratch2:, was all part of doing buisness. Now if a larger percent was doing that, you would not be in buisness very long and something would have to change. Reading in AK forums, there are way more buyer's that has felt deceived than seller's being ripped off. I would suggest any small time seller that felt they have been scamed sell in their local Craigslist, that way the seller and buyer deal on a one on one or better yet, list and sell thru AK :thmbsp:.

Wow, those prices in Euros are really sweet with the conversion rate even though the dollar had gained some strength since then. How often are those big,er, huge dogs sold in Europe? *starts export business*

They are very rare, and yours export business will be very good with nice profit!

The main problem is what USPS doesnt have economy (surface -by boat) shipping any more, and lot of customers from Europe who have bought Big Sansuies in the past from USA (because of lower price) doesnt buy anymore because for one G7000, shipping will be about 250 US$ but for G8000/9000 will be almost 800 US$ because the box is oversize!! I know those facts because friend of mine wish to send me one G8000 and he cant because very high price for shipping.
Do you someone know some company which doing shipping heavy items by boat to Europe?

Dunno, some kind of freight comany I suppose. I've mailed some much smaller items internationally and always found USPS International First Class Registered to be fairly priced and allow for delivery confirmation by return receipt which requires a signature.
