Just picked up (6) of these at a yard sale. $2.50 for them all. Does anyone recognize or have a way to ID them? Thanks for any help.

I'd like the code to be 649 since that would be ElectroVoice, but it looks pretty clearly 645, which is I don't know.

I believe 1056 is for Fisher built 42nd week of 71. Whizzer cone makes them more of a full range speaker than woofer. Might be great to use as a midrange. What size are they? I would have picked them up also.

Ah - I mistook the model number for the maker code. I did not know Fisher built drivers, but if they had a maker code, it would seem they did.

The baskets are 8" across. Both sides wired in series. Running them right now, open baffle on a throw away amp (just in case). Sound pretty great.

Open baffles often sound surprisingly good, especially with a little luck in placement. Not everyone wants a large piece of plywood (or whatever) partway out into their living room, and even fewer want two of them, which explains the persistence of box speakers. But the limitations of box speakers are significant.
