Cause...Debassige has first dibs.

I'll wait and see. I have brother up in Washington so I'm sure I could work something out.

I've made an offer, lower than asking price, and no response. I've heard nothing back, so i say go for it. :thmbsp:

Alright boys, fess up -- who got this big old Yamaha? Wasn't me, I never heard back, and was plenty willing to pay the asking price. :D Did an AKer land this big fish?

Not me! I emailed last night, but no reply. I only answered figuring I could box it up and ship it for a fellow AKer. I know if I were selling it, I would probably not even answer an email from someone in another Province. (of course, I would also say "no shipping in the ad, but...). I guessed that's why the out-of-towners never got a reply.
Anyhoo, if on the odd chance he contacts me, I'll contact you asap. I don't mind missing it.

cr-3020 staying in Vancouver

The Yamaha cr-3020 is staying in Vancouver, at least for now. I just collected it.
For what its worth, the vendor was a very nice bloke but a bit strange to deal with. We first exchanged e-mails on this unit on February 17 ... He was just never, ever available. He received 35 e-mails from me over the past two months. He sent eight back. On April 10 he e-mailed telling me he was posting on CL, I replied telling him that I wanted it and he gave me a ROFR. Then he went to ground again... absolute silence for almost two weeks...and today at lunch he phones and says "Can you come now?"

No, its not working. It is exactly as described in the beginning of this thread. When you flip the power switch everything starts to happen (lights on, gauges move), then about 3-4 seconds it clicks and the gauges return to zero reading.

I expect that Merrylander could do a 'laying on of hands', give it a drink of the magic elixir from a silver chalice and it would rise up from the dead for him playing his favorite music ... and all in a New York minute. Absent him reaching through my computer screen and pointing while saying 'squirt there and there!', I will resort to asking my local tech to address the problem. I am far to new at this to do more than the most minor (not to want to admit publicly to being more than a bit daunted at the thought of starting a learning curve on a unit like this...)

Free plug for Vancouver's "Japan Electronics" for tech services. Its about four doors away from "Main Electronics" from whom Vancouverite AKers get their various supplies ... sortof the "Parts Express" of the Pacific northwest.

Photos in due course. Heck, I can't even lift it by myself!!

Congratulations!!

The CR-3020 is kinda heavy - Merrylander swore off taking them in after fixing the one I sent him.

Yes, Merrylander's quote to me was something along the line of "...just too darn big for me..."

I am on the west coast so I am sure pretty that the total refurbish bill (repair and internal cleaning as necessary...I haven't looked yet...just paid and loaded it up) would be less than the coast-to coast return freight and the Occupational Health claim from Merrylander after he lifted another of these.

I truly had never seen one and was shocked at the size. The vendor phoned today (Sunday) while I was lunching a friend/business associate in town from Houston and I dragged him along to the buy just so I wasn't being rude at cutting our luncheon short ... boy, was I glad! I doubt I could have safely carried it to the car.

Anyhow, I shall repair, play with, and then decide its future... Maybe it will end up in the hands of another AKer...???

Another member asked if I can help get their CR-3020 to Robs shop. I'll offer you the same deal but you have to clear everything with Rob first.

Eric,

Lovely offer and thank you muchly. I must decline your kindness, but only because I truly don't think that shipping is a great plan ...both in terms of cost and equipment risk. I can get the Yammie repaired locally by a tech I trust and I currently have a Sansui 9090Db being rebuilt because FEDEX reduced the box it was in from 10 inches to six...

But you are a credit to the AK spirit...and I shall remain at your service here in Vancouver if you ever need assistance...I would consider it a honour.

As I write, I have to go to the Olympic peninsula before month-end to pick up some HPM-100's so if there is anything you (or anyone else) would like delivered from Vancouver or its surrounds...

Best
