Hello,

Does anyone have experience with these speakers ? I was able to save these from being thrown away. I read on the internet they are "legendary" and expensive on ebay, but apart from that I can't find much info.

I'm listening to them with a SET tube amp and there is something about the sound I like very much. The stereo image is clear and they are very detailed.

They've got a few downsides too: they haven't got much deep bass and they have peaks at 3500hz and 8000hz, making them shout a bit.
Compared to my IMF tls50's they've got no "vibe" and are a lot less smooth, but somehow they are better.

I think a combination of both should make a real good speaker. I found plans for diy " TQWT " cabinets and they look a bit like a single driver in a transmission line.

If someone happens to know these speakers I would love to hear about it.

Here's the ultimate website for these drivers (not enclosures for them though):

The stock frequency response is quite ragged and I don't quite see why they sell for what they do to the vintage fullrange driver crowd (?). I am soooo not a fan of drivers with whizzer cones as they always seem to have peaky resonance modes to my ears. I'm sure there are some good whizzer cone designs out there that avoid this but I've never heard any of them.

Thanks stickman. I've been searching some other fullrange driver's and most seem to have big treble peaks even Lowthers. Untill now the only one I found with a smooth response is the Tannoy monitor gold. But that's too expensive.
