Do the Thorens TD 125 and TD 125 MKII share the same motors? If not, are they still interchangeable?

The analog department is the place to go for all information related to Thorens turntables.
http://www.theanalogdept.com/thorens_dept_.htm

The history section doesn't state anything about a new motor between the 125 and 125 mk II. It does say that a motor control oscillator changed. Read the history section and the 125/126 department.

Hélas, theanalogdept is no longer:-(
Where can I find the difference of these two models , especially the different circuit boards for the motor control?

As I remember the MK I uses discrete components and the MK II uses some IC's. But I think they use the same motor.

The only issue I have with my TD 125 MK I is th poor quality of Thorens belts now days. My long time dealer found me a belt that is a bit wider and just a bit thicker and after 5 minutes the TT remains stable all day. With the factory belts it takes a longer time, if ever.

I thoroughly clean the motor pulley, sub TT platter, and the belt before installing the belt as I have oily fingers. I also clean the spindle well and re-lubricate annually.

Yikes, why answer when you don't know for sure?

They DO NOT use the same motor and are not interchangeable.

Other differences between the two here:
