"As the glue dries..." Post up your refoam jobs!

Sorry I missed your question-

It's been a while since I did those, and I remember I ordered it off ebay, but I don't remember which kit it was exactly. But seller "looneytune2001" is Rick Cobb, and he sells quality foams. So I would say go ahead with that one. Plus, having done a few of these realistic 8" woofers, they are a top-mounted foam, and the VC has a pretty forgiving gap. I guess what I'm saying is, they are hard to screw up, lol. I happen to love that model too; they have a surprisingly full sound for what they are.

I actually first thought about getting this one because the cone measures right at 6" and the ID of the baskets are a hair over 7". My only concern with it was/is, would the 7.25 OD of the surround be enough.

Here's my first couple attempts a few years back. A real sleeper speaker, Camber Laser 3. 6" ported two ways they are still rockin' my garage. A messy job but the rubber surrounds really woke these up after a vigorous break in period. I'm not sure why I went with rubber but the (I think) extra excursion added to the bass response.

I did a better job on the AR 18s. Many more since then.

The toughest so far were the Infinity IMG. I did eight drivers in two evenings for Kappa 6.1 and CS3008. Between the plastic trim rings and some very stubborn adhesives (yes there were more than one type depending on what was glued to what) it was a very tedious mess. It turned out very well sonically and aesthetically.

Waiting for the glue to cure on the Nova 15's

After a hiccup20200305_124847.jpg 20200306_092017.jpg 20200306_104643.jpg 20200306_104706.jpg 20200306_105153.jpg with first shipment I received the proper size and here are my results. These speakers were given to my son who passed them to you know who to fix them dad. They sound pretty good some SPL with this size of driver and for a circa 1984 speaker impressive.

My first refoam. Finished it last evening. Got the other one started. Boston HD7s. I got the foams from a kit on ebay from R.Cobb/ looneytune2001. I stumbled through it, but, as the man said, you'd have to work at it to screw them up. The foam was a perfect fit.

Stumbled through again, finishing the other one. Glad these HD7s are hard to mess up on. Sound pretty good, no louder than I cranked them. Quite different from the A60 series 2.

I picked up a pair of Boston Acoustic A60 the other day. I figured since I had to order some foam, I'd finally refoam the mismatched pair of Cerwin Vega woofers I had laying around too (a 81W4 and a DXW8).

Phase 1- Cleanup:

Phase 2: Cones Glued (drying right now, in the spirit of this thread, lol):

I'll probably wait until tomorrow for Phase 3, gluing the foam to the basket.
