  • There will be several guys interested in learning what you have to share per several dead threads i've seen here! That makes sense with the Altec part, thank you for clarifying. My D220Tis are in fact 16 ohm. Purchased from the nice fellas at Speaker Exchange.
Thank you so much for the information. I understand very little but will be learning with the help of a kind neighbor. I have purchased Selenium D220Ti drivers to possibly replace the 806As. There are several mentions of an attenuator Altec part 30904. I'm not sure if that makes any sense with the correct crossover and L-Pad? Keep us updated on your progress!

The Selenium drivers are supposed to be very good. They are likely 8 ohm and will require different values with respect crossover components.

The 30904 network is an entirely different crossover that is geared toward working with Altec speakers. The Altec 30923 circuit can be used as an add on to your existing DDS-1 crossover. It's just one capacitor, three resistors, and an L-pad.

I'm going to draw and post both of these circuits this evening and perhaps some other AK'ers will weigh in.
Hello Pete. I recently ran across a big ol banged up pair of Seeburg DDS1s and for some reason felt compelled to make them a home. I've been going over DDS threads looking for the infamous Zilch crossover. Do you happen to have or know where to find this? I have found a few fuzzy pictures, but not enough to go on!
My 240 is a Frankenstein. The person who had it before me converted it to KT88’s. If you’d like, give me a call sometime. I’d like to bounce ideas off of you. 504-722-8120

Hi! I’m located in Kenner (bra). I have a similar setup as you. I’ve been tweaking the mc240 and was wondering if you’ve come across anything that’s made a difference. I’ve got an mx110 and Cornwall 1’s playing with a garrard 301. Let me know if you get a chance. Also, are you using the 117 or 125 voltage tap?

I rebuilt my 240 with Jim McShane's kit. In particular it is the Russian K40 coupling caps that I think really opened it up. I put all new resistors in it as well. I run mine on the 125v setting.

I rebuilt my Cornwalls with Crites tweeters and NOS Heppner mid drivers.

I'd be happy to have you over to listen and see if my rig has any attractive attributes to its sound.

I've just recently acquired and overhauled an RCA WT-110a tube tester in case you'd like to review any of your tubes.

    Let me know.
