I bought a JVC A-X5 amp [70 'conservative' wpc] last year - I think it is just great! I decided to try this amp out after seeing that a guy on another site was using one to successfully drive a pair of La Scalas [ http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/123987.aspx?PageIndex=1 ]. Yesterday, I took delivery of a great little tuner [JVC T-X3 - not a precise match but pretty close] to go with it. I'm now very pleased to have learned about that narrow period when JVC got into [fairly] serious hi-fi.
Does anybody else have any experience with JVC to share for our mutual benefit?

That's a beautiful JVC setup, indeed!

That amp is a sleeper & the A-X series is overlooked. I had a R-S33 receiver that was a great piece of equipment.

There should be some favorable posts about certain JVC products.

I do. With a 1983 integrated (no more in use, but still in good condition) and a late 80s graphic equalizer.

Excellent sound quality – clearest sound, no hum/noise at highest levels, no distortions (the amp - 0,007%), fully functional and effective EQ.

Weakness: two little lamps in the amp and a LED in the EQ went out.
 
Looks like a match set to me - size (width), color, layout, lamp color.
Has a nice clean look, something that doesn't come along everyday.

I had a JVC receiver "SEA-something" back I think late 70s for a short period (about 6-months). Had CV speakers to it. It had some equalizer slides on the receiver. It was different, but never had an issues with it. I can't recall the model - just a receiver SEA-something.

Only JVC stuff I have now is the L20T speakers, XL-M300 CDP, and a RX-series receiver. All out of rotation at the moment.

I own a JVC KD-A7 cassette deck. Heavy as hell, sounds impressive for a 2-head deck. I also own two CD players, a XL-V311 and a XL-V211.
 
I've got a 1985 or so JVC boombox, hauled it all around the world with me, sounds great, it's in the garage now (were both in retirement), it's a 'Keeper'!

Really nice natural lifelike sounding boombox. :thmbsp:
 
Had a KD-A55 cassette deck which I regret getting rid of. Recordings from it sound great on everything.
Now I have a TD-v711 cassette deck which sounds very good.
 
big jvc fan

i'm a big fan of the jvc products. the issue that is hard to find good stuff.
i have the jr-s301, jr-s501 receivers, m-3030 power amp, t-3030 tuner

Talking about boomboxes [above], when I parted with many-many items on moving to Birmingham from Toronto, I think that I miss my "RV-DP200 Kaboom box" [see pic] at least as much as anything else :tears:

Having said that, we have some classy pieces showing up now :yes:

How could I forget my avatar. It is a JVC BN-5 Biphonic Processor & I always wanted one of those things when I first bought my JVC system back in the
80's. Had a chance to get one about two years ago, but the shipping from overseas was a bit too much for me at that time.

Always on the watch for one in good condition.

I have a JVC-MX1, the grandaddy of all the MX-series of boomboxes, but it is not a boombox - it is a semi-micro system. It is bi-amped, has a subwoofer in each speaker cabinet, is fan cooled, has gobs of power, and even sounds good. The only downside is the plain-Jane styling. The things came out in 1990-1991, and cost about a grand. Mine was about $35 at a local DAV store. :D
 
I've got a little JVC JA-S22 acting as a headphone amp for my PC set-up. Wasn't the top of the line but at 50wpc she's more than capable of driving my ATH-AD700's and my Polk monitor 7's. It's currently playing some Frank Zappa.
