Grommes console

I picked up this console at a local estate sale today. It has a Grommes Little Jewel integrated and Grommes FM tuner. Slide out contains a Garrard RC 121 Mk II. Not shown and a bit beat up , a pair of satellite speakers each with a single Electro Voice sp12b driver. The Little Jewel integrated came with a quad of RCA 6bq5's and a pair of Tefunken 12ax7 tubes.
Looks like an easy rebuild. Anyone had one? I also can't make out the badge on the lower left of the console, the owner said it was bought as is, except the turntable was bought separately.

Thats a nice little rig there. Styling is nice, and its not as big as a house either. I would probably upgrade that changer. They aren't all that great but the amp and tuner are a real score. Congrats

Yes, the speakers looked like they were part of a set. They are not in very good shape and I will probably not want to spend the time and money to fix them up.
 
Congrats! Nice little console! If the speakers are high efficiency for that 12W/CH amp you may want to keep and repair unless you have better ones.

Unless they're completely falling apart, I'd consider at least hanging onto them. That's a very nice mid-century design set.
 
I built one of those Grommes amplifiers as a young boy, and loved it. It was my first really good stereo amplifier, with everything before it being little more than record player designs (not putting them down, but used for description). Your version is an earlier version, as mine used PECs for the tone controls circuits as well as the one shown for EQ duties. It's basically a stereo version of the Grommes Little Jewel LJ-7 amplifier, which was the last in that well received line of amplifiers.

This brings back memories back to about 1965. I lived in Thermopolis,Wyoming My dad was a school teacher and part time DJ at KTHE. One of the local motels was remodeling and because of it my dad came into possession of a whole bunch of radios just like the one pictured above, I have no idea as to the brand. They didn't have a turntable and where coin operated. My dad bypassed the coin operated feature and sold them. I suppose in the Thermopolis area somewhere some of these radios are still around, I would love to have one just for the memories.

Nice console. Lets see the speakers?? We may be able to give you an idea of how to spiff them up with out to much effort. Theres lots of tips of the trade.

Model number for the amp is 20LJ (LJ is short for Little jewel)
If you do have a service manual or schematic that would be great!
I don't have a model number for the tuner, I have not pulled it out yet.
