This post is in response to a member who wanted pictures of the SL-150MK2. However, I invite anyone with pictures of their personal Technics turntables to post them here; high quality preferred and if possible more in depth than what is readily available on the internet. Maybe, this post can serve as a sort of technical information and verification for those interested. (Of course, there are plenty of pics of 1200MK2's; however, if someone has an interesting take on one, or a KABized version... that's cool.) Hopefully, it won't be canabalized by fleebay fakers!!

Further observation/comment:

With the platter off and arms in place, you would never know that their was a difference between the 1500 and the 150 as the motors appear to be identical. The suspension does not make itself apparent from the top. (This particular 1500 has a nearly completely failing suspension; the turntable now rubs the top of the plinth and the sub-chasis rests on the table. It will need attention to be usable.) Both turntables are equally hefty as well, despite their design differences.

I feel guilty as the SL-150MK2 has been collecting dust. Maybe, I should get going and bring this one back online... :scratch2:

I have a SL 1301, which I don't see much on and am ready to do a little(very little as I don't know much) work on. Looks to be similar to the 1500

There were several plugs that had to be pulled to seperate the two portions of the TT.

The real insides and the reason I wanted to do this aside from the experience is the variable pitch controls were not working. I wanted to get a shot of Deoxit on them to see if they would loosen up...they haven't:tears:.
They are located in the upper right portion of the CB...which has been inverted.

If any knowledgeable folks here know if the SL 1301's pitch controls are suppose to move...up, down or turn let me know, please. They have little 'C' clips on both ends, but have a spring, I just have no idea how these work. If it will help I can sure get a pic of the parts:D.

Excellent page for the oddballs and uncommon Technics, as well as the more common models.

I'm elbow deep in projects so can't snap pics any time soon, but hope to show you my SL-110, SL-120, and SL-1710 MKII.

While it's apart I decided to refresh the damping fluid so here's a pic of the parts of the damping cylinder and the associated parts...I think they're lying in order of dis/assembly.

You're good as far as I'm concerned. This may really be helping, or one day, really help someone else.

Hopefully, I'll get around to some detailed pics of my SL-M3 soon. All I ever see of those things are glamour shots. The vinylengine is awesome; but again, seems like the majority are centerfold pics.

Thank you so much for posting pictures of the innards of turntable. The only thing missing is the belly of the platter. Do you have that? I want to know if the platter is the same in the SL-1300mk2 because it's a balanced platter and very heavy. I would love to see that picture. Thanks again, nicely done.
 
I had close to 80 pics of a SL1700MKII, that I took while I repaired it, but I'll be darned if I can find them...they are not on my PC nor my camera...:scratch2:
I'll have to ask my daughter, she may have deleted the pics from the camera :gigglemad

Way to keep this thread alive...

I picked this up a little more than a month ago pretty cheap from a guy on CL. I think he was just getting rid of it because he didn't want to mess with the little problems it was having. With the aid of a friend (who's also a semi-pro electronics guy), we figured out most of the issues of the tt and fixed them. Anyways, I snapped this pic a couple days ago after it was back up and running with newly repaired tonearm wires, new headshell wires and a new Shure 97 stylus (screwed up the original that was only a month old when I took off the headshell - rookie mistake that will never happen again).

Attached is a crappy phone pic of my 1300 and my backup, SL-Q350 that re-introduced me to vinyl earlier this year. I have a slightly better pic on a different thread (forum woud not let me load that pic on this thread and don't know a work-around) of my 1300. Very timely thread.I just got a Technics SL-1700 MK2 in the mail today.This is my first Technics I have ever owned and im very impressed.I have several Sony/Pioneer.It came in very nice condition with no shipping damage and all functions are working.The cart was a AT-140LC but the stylus was bent.I had a new 120E in stock and tossed that on.Sonics are great.
