Today I went to examine a Fisher R1 Console for possible purchase.

I'll know more next week if I can make a deal.

It is better looking then in the photographs. The owner and I cleaned it up after taking the photographs.

The receiver chassis has 19 tubes. The output tubes are 4 6V6's. The smaller chassis is the expander with 4 tubes.

The record changer had no manufacturer markings.

Here are the photos.

More Fisher R1 photographs.

I'm not sure what if anything mounted in the spaces on the right side. Though the top shelf has 4 drilled holes.

Also, there was an Allen Wrench with the unit. Not sure of use. The writing on the tag next to the wrench had worn off.

Very cool, I hope you can make the purchase. The TT looks very similar to the one in my Custom Sixty.

Sweet. The quality that went into those consoles would be really hard to match today. It looks beautiful. Good luck on the purchase.

Oh man that is a sweet little mono setup! Good luck man - these baby's deserve to be saved!

Dynamic Range Expander, and Dynamic Noise Suppressor went in the side pockets as optional equipment. They had "remote" pots that mounted above the main chassis, or could be mounted on an angle bracket on the top back. The turntable is a Webster Chicago. Very similar to the Webster Chicago 100-28 in my R-3 Warwick cabinet. It looks more like BugleGirls R-3 Georgian tho.

Anyone else notice the Jensen 15"??? Looks like a Doublehump to me.

Look in your fisherconsole email for some pertinent manuals.

I see mono consoles like this and I have no interest but with it being a fisher its darned cool.

Warrgo. You'd be surprised at the sound out of these. Mono hasn't sounded this good in a LOOOOOOOONNG Time. That Co-Ax Jensen makes it sound really good.

Today I picked up the Fisher R1 console.

More photographs to follow when I get it out of the wagen.

It's out of the wagen and into the garage.

The record changer is a Webster 357-27 (Sams #106).

The cabinet will clean up nicely. It is better then it looks.

I haven't removed the expander chassis and I haven't seen a model number on it.

Also, before I moved the console I removed the chassis. I found out the Allen wrench was to remove the knobs! Fisher thought of everything.

Must weigh about 120 pounds.

Here are some more photographs.

Some photographs of the R1 chassis.

Very nice squared off wiring. This will make it easier to work on - when and if I ever get a chance.

No Fisher branded tubes. Mostly RCA and Sylvania brand. I guess that in 1950 Fisher had not begun to have tube companies make tubes for them.

I cleaned the controls and tube sockets. Powered up the chassis on a variac. It works but with distortion. One of the capacitor cans gets hot after a few minutes. Just what I expected. Including the electrolytics, there will be about 20 caps to replace.
