Help with speaker build

Hello, I recently bought a vintage console on the street and the seller gave me a pair of speaker cabinets he (and I at that moment) though were part of it. I got everything for around 50 bucks.
I'm planning on restoring them, but they are kind of mysterious. They don't have visible marks or logos so it makes research more difficult. I don't know much about speakers but these look like resonating cabinets to me. They are huge by the way. I can't figure where were the missing speakers mounted, and it seems like a couple of wood parts are missing as well.
I don't know if these are designed to play bass or all kinds of frequencies.

I'm doing a raw drawing at the moment so you get an idea of the interior design. I took the best pics I could but I only have an iPhone to take them and lighting was poor, but here they are:


As you can see, I took the back off and there seems to be a "ramp" that goes all the way to the front. I guess sound and air travel downwards and out through the front.

This is the ramp inside.

As you can see, no logos visible.
I'll post a drawing that clearly shows the insides in an hour or two, a piece if wood is missing but I can tell by the glue how it was shaped

Excuse my ignorance, are these speakers for bass? Or full range? I don't even know what kind of cabinets I have in my hands haha. What were they designed for?

Hey, I googled it and yes, I found a pic of two speakers that look exactly the same as mine!

So probably Electrovoice

Now, I can tell you guys; these speakers smell like 30 year (or more) old furniture. It's made of plywood I think and they are HEAVY. They look very well built, almost no nails. Everything is perfectly glued and they are solid as a brick. They don't crack or make weird noises. They need new cloth (or grill?) and repairing a dent or two and a little sand and new finish. Oh, and it needs speakers :p I'll look into those Matrex, thanks a lot for the suggestion. Never heard of them but well, I'm a noob
 
I'd look into finding out what speakers they had originally.. My wife bought a pair of EV Aristocrats boxes, and I put a EV Sentry driver load in them.. They sound pretty gosh dern nice..

I'd almost bet those had a coax driver in them..
 
In the 2nd pic, I see grille-cloth. Is there a baffle? If so, measure the diameter of the hole(s) and some more determinations can be made.

Yes, that would be ideal. This is a pic of EVoice speakers I found on the web, as per your suggestion. I hope they had a coax because that would mean almost full range, right? They seem to have huge speakers inside.

I'm sure there was a baffle, but it was taken off, probably ripped off along the missing plywood sheets that made each cavity. Inside, the speakers are hollow, except for the lower ramp and a couple of angled walls at the back of the speaker.
The side of the cabinet has marks of glue and traces of different cavities. I'll post a picture of that and then a drawing I made of how I think things used to be sorted inside.

PLEASE NOTE: The speaker placement is where I GUESS they would originally be placed, probably there was just one speaker.
First is side view, second front view and third is view from above. (sorry for caps but needed to be clear)

Now, these speakers, as I said before where sold to me with a console. All for $50. They told me they were part of the console but they arent. Inside the console I found a wire that has a jack, bigger than 3.5, but smaller than a guitar jack.
Behind the console there are a couple of outputs for external speakers, and they match. The cabinets have a hole behind where the jack fits. So, I guess they were used with the console, and the owner was the same.
Probably a rich person as there are "voice-mail" inside. Those are small vynils and come in 1st class mail envelopes. I'll post pics tomorrow when I get a hold of them. They said something like "Don't write it, record it"

This almost looks like a folded horn or transmission-line cabinet. Like the backward motion of the cone pushes air into the "2nd cavity" through a gap at the top of the 2nd cavity wall into the "3rd Cavity" and out through the ramp.

I thought that second cavity certainly acted as some kind of cushion. Is this some kind of alternative to porting?
EDIT: I researched already, from what I understood this design increases drive efficiency. So basically its louder with a certain driver

I'll start doing my research now. Having a name for this cabinet design makes research way easier. First, I didnt even knew what to search for.

Do you think I should sand the cabinets and refinish them?
They look like this. The white circle on top is a mark of paint thinner a guy rubbed over my cabinets trying to help me. I got kind of mad because I told him not to do anything on them but he did anyway...
