Advent Heritage Speakers

Hello, I recently purchased a pair of Advent Heritage Speakers. I have a Kenwood KA-3500 amplifier. Will this amp be enough for these speakers? Thank you.

That Kenwood is rated at 40 wpc. It will be fine driving the Advents under most conditions. If you plan on putting the speakers in the yard and having a block party, you may have trouble. But at normal levels in a normal sized room, the amp will be fine with those speakers. Just remember the general rule, if it starts sounding bad, turn the volume down.

I'm a fan of the Advent speakers. I have a set of Heritages - great set of speakers. I'm certain you'll be pleased with them. You won't have any issues with a 40 watt receiver.

I ran both those and at another time advent Legacy from a 20 watt per channel amp, and had plenty of power and loudness.

But I am one that thinks the need of huge power is very exaggerated by some audiophiles.

My addiction is big power on bookshelf speakers. It can be amazing. But you are correct, 40 old school watts is quite sufficient. Advents were designed with older buyers in mind, hence the softer sound and real wood panels to dress them up a little. Not designed for heavy use.

Thank you all for the info. Just an update for any future inquiries...I replaced the foam on the speakers and I am beyond impressed with them! They sound so amazing! Again, thank you for your insights.

A late hit, for posterity and validation. I used a Kenwood KA-3500 with Advent "New Large Advent" loudspeakers for a decade, and believe me it was loud enough for any normal listening purposes in just about any residential room. That Kenwood still works fine with nothing more than a DeOxit treatment, and I ran it with limited ventilation at high listening levels...a lot.

Yes, bigger amps with more headroom congest less and provide more dynamics, and pose less risk of tweeter-killing clipping, especially if you are looking for "reference" loudness (whatever that is--but, say, peaks in the 105-110 dB SPL range). But at any wife-approved loudness level, the Kenwood will perform admirably with Advent speakers.
