I've heard 1's and 2CE's before, I'm just scared what a 6.8 to 2 ohm load would do on my amps...efficiency is good enough but...2 ohms. Eek. :scratch2:

Those Vandy 2's are the real score... A whole world apart from the 1's.

I know, I have the 2's at home.

That's a good deal on the three W5's
I heard a pair of those with some Altecs at a local vintage/record shop a couple years ago and they kicked butt!!
IMO the W5 would make a good platform for a tweaker/tube roller as IIRC stock they have nearly 500V on the plates.

No guts no glory Jimbo....:D I'm looking at one ohm with my new speakers....:thmbsp:

I'm no stranger to low impedance loads (worked on a few 1/8'th of an ohm setups, now that's fun), but I don't feel like calling up Hammond and ordering $300 worth of new output iron when I fry these :D

My Klipsch RF-7 mains live at 2.7 Ohms by my meter.... so far no problems, and the Concept 16.5 never gets hot.

The heat sink real estate is massive, well not the 1300 sq inches of your new BOSE C-1801/1536... :thmbsp:

1/8th ohm?? Might as well be the SAE's 'screwdriver short on terminals' test!
