Hello dear AKers,
Watching the Mr Carlson's YouTube video on his restoration of a beautiful Harman Kardon Citation tube preamp, I noticed he has a very interesting approach to replacing those multicap can capacitors in old tube gear. He uses some kind of ceramic insulators which allow to use the old caps as mounting points for the new ones.
Video: (he shows it at 39:30 to 39:45)

I have found some PTFE insulators at Mouser and I have even bought some of them to test. It turns out that the ones I bought (Mouser #534-11216) are not insulated (there is one lead that just passes through the insulator). I am looking for the ones that are insulated. Perhaps he uses the screw-in types (Mouser #534-11351)? But are those insulated? https://mouser.com/ProductDetail/Keystone-Electronics/11351?qs=sGAEpiMZZMuHIszJOUpTOpOWGMQE7R7Y
Has anyone tried that kind of insulator? I would like to make sure before I spend more money on things I don't need... I am about to do a complete recap on my Fisher 500-B and I guess that such insulators would save me a lot of PITA, because I would like to put new individual caps under the chassis. Restuffing doesn't really convince me.
Best regards,
Piotr
