"Complete" stereo system

Is a system complete if it comes without speaker cables? How about a power conditioner? How can a system be truly complete if it doesn't have Laserdisc, MiniDisc, DAT, DCC, Wire recorder, Betamax, Elcassette, both vertically- and horizontally-tracking analog TTs... I guess that is going a little bit too far, huh? :D

I'd say a hi-fi system is good enough to be called "complete" when it at least allows you to hear and enjoy music. It could be as simple as a receiver with headphone or speakers, or as complex as a multi-rack professional installation. It would be better to use the term for systems with a few choices of inputs/sources (tuner, tape, LP, CD). But in this case, without speakers, one really does have to question "completeness", since you can't even hear any music from that system as-is. It is a complete door-stop system, until you add some end-stage transducers.

It certainly looks like it's in good condition, and Mid Century Modern is very hot right now. They might get a pretty penny for it.
 
Never know when an interior decorator is looking for a MCM console as spec'd by a client and money is no object.
