Crafters speaker

This speaker has the name "Crafters". Any ideas on what lurks beneath the grill? It felt like a single 10" or 12" driver underneath the grill cloth, so I'm guessing it's full range.

Hard to beat an EV coax/full range driver in a good cabinet in my opinion. Hopefully it's something enjoyable!

Given the grill frame, there is a STRONG Hillcraft vibe.

My WAG is that it is an early Hillcraft cabinet.

That Hillcraft cabinet is darn near a splitting image of the Crafter.

My understanding is that the Hill Craft cabinet company was started by the son of the late Dr J K Hilliard of United Artists, MGM, and Altec Lansing fame.

So chances are there's an Electro-Voice 12TRXB driver lurking underneath?

Not trying to bring your hope's down, but it could be anything, maybe an Altec???
Is it a pair or a single cabinet? I'd take a chance on a pair and bring a screwdriver to get the back off!

Heck, an Altec wouldn't be a let down. Single cabinet unfortunately. I'm not sure if the owner will let me open her up since it's a thrift store, but I'll ask.

That thing looked old enough at first glance to be a single. Would make a great mono system with a 78 turntable.
