Probably. I've had good results with Parts Express non-polarized electrolytics, or you could spend a little more, but still cheap are Erse Audio NPEs. Film caps are overrated anyway, if it costs more than $10-20 per speaker to recap, I go with the NPEs.

I have no problem going with cheap generic caps from P-E or other reputable sources. I would avoid all caps sold on eBay that originate from outside the USA. Some studies have shown that nearly 100% of them are counterfeit name brands, and may in fact be dangerous to your equipment by reason of early failure or being severely out-of-spec.

So cheap, yes. Counterfeit, no. If it seems too good to be true, it is. True of most things.

good advice given here but I would not go cheapo crap either when you can buy nichicon panasonic rubycon all very affordable and good solid quality . Your old stock ones are gonna die and crapo ones are not going to deliver. Best regards Moray James.

Affordable means different things to different people. Also, what does and does not 'deliver' is debatable.

As Wiggy points out, it's hard to answer your question without knowing budget, values of parts, and replacements under consideration.

understandable..i will do some digging and have specifics shortly they are 100v 33uf.the caps i was considering are from radioshack and i think they were nht?

Crites

Crites Speakers sells a high quality cap kit for the Heresey. Type E is $38 and E2 is $43 for both speakers. Not a real budget breaker.

Crites is well known on the forum for high quality Heresey parts.

This gets my vote and you will be dealing with the best guy in the Klipsch universe. 43 bucks plus postage is a great deal these are very good parts go now fast faster. Best regards Moray James.

Dayton Audio PMPC Precision Audio Capacitor , from parts-express.com work very good in my opinion. I think you would be happy also. A few more dollars per cap, but good over all value and performance.

I personally avoid Parts Express like the plague but some like them. I primarily use Solen caps and order them from Madisound and recapped all 4 sets of Heresy's I've had through the years with them. I did order SoniCaps direct from them and tried them in one pair but couldn't hear enough of a difference to justify using them. But that's just me.

All you need are (4) 2.0uf caps which would run $2.35 each from Madisound and are $.60 more each at Parts Express. Not to mention their pricey freight.

Personally, I love Parts Express top notch service.
However, they do not always have exactly what I want.
Sonicap Gen 1 caps at cheaper shipping from Madison Sound sounds like the ticket for me, next recap.

Meniscus carries Sonicap. The grill on a Heresy I kills highs mids and bass - it might be hot in the mids with no grill so a move on the autoformer attenuation may be in order. I replaced the 1978 caps on one of my H-1 with 1985 KBG caps (lol) I may try a swamping resistor on the mid-driver and up the first cap to 4uF. Which inexpensive film caps sound good in Klipsch?

Please send me more details on the auto transformer tabs. Any links? I've been looking for info on that

DJK explains proper attenuation here - all you need to do is add one resistor per speaker and move two taps on its autoformer - http://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/vt.mpl?f=hug&m=164613

using a 15-16 ohm resistor across the 16 ohm compression driver accomplishes two things - one - it sets the proper reflected impedance for the original 2uF cap for the midrange crossover. - two, the resistor across the mid-driver swamps the driver's impedance peak which in conjunction with the cap highpass reactance can exacerbate diaphragm excursion.
