I have no idea. Looks good. It's priced (on Accessories For Less) right about the top of what I'd pay at this point.

If you don't mind, could you tell me WHY that's the one you picked out of the plethora of AVR's available? I'm thinking of upgrading within the next year, and wondering why people pick the things they do.

Yes , absolutely!! I rely on reviews and Google in this case , top rated AVR Receivers and my research and reading reviews from professionals got me to 2 units.
1. Denon X4500H
2. Marantz SR6014
I chose the Denon because in a side by side comparison , it came out on top ( barely ) over the Marantz 6014 and both receivers were priced within $100 of each other. Denon $1,599 Marantz $1,499.
I currently have a Denon AVR 3300 which I’ve been using since brand new in April of 2000 and that unit has been absolutely SUPERB in music listening and Surround Sound up until advancements have come out that I’d like to have such as Dolby DTS-X , Dolby Atmos , Heos WiFi , Alexa and 125 watts per channel vs the 105 from my current unit. I wanted to have the latest and greatest technology available today and have a receiver that won’t be outdated in 10 years , such as was the case with my Denon AVR 3300. That receiver took me to at least 2010 before new technology passed it up and now it’s considered a dinosaur so upgrade here we go. The reviews and products out there the Denon X4500H seems to be the best AVR under $2,000

BTW. Accessories for Less has a refurbished Denon X4500H for $999
I bought mine through Safe N Sound on sale for $1,199 Factory sealed Brand New never opened and free shipping is included along with audio / video trouble shooting , questions n answers through their staff!! Awesome deal!!

Congratulations on your new Denon receiver. Be sure to let us know how you like it.
Hey tcdriver , I will as soon as it gets here ( just ordered it yesterday ) and I get it all set up!! I hope it’s relatively simple to do!! I got a great deal on this unit but price wasn’t a factor , features , power and quality were the deciding factors. I found Safe & Sound out of Massachusetts and they sold me one brand new Factory sealed never opened for $1,199 no tax and EVERYWHERE ELSE was $1,599. Gotta be careful because these receivers are sold as refurbished and or sold as returns , that’s all receivers and all brands so if you see an extra special deal , ask questions!!

I didn't want to get into pricing, because that starts to cause an issue on AK. Pricing discussion is allowed in the "Dollars And Sense" forum, but generally frowned upon in other forums. I'm glad you knew about the lower price at AFL, however!

Well , I’ve had my Denon X4500H for 2 weeks now and after doing some tweaking of hz crossover settings etc let me give my review!! The sound quality while watching a 4K Ultra High Definition Blu-ray is out of this world. The format of DTS HD + Virtual X is absolutely amazing. I’ve been missing out on the benefits of 4K Ultra Hi Def sound. The sound separation , clarity and detail is awesome!! Blue ray discs from Redbox even sound great!! Very happy and pleased with this AVR!! Considering my old AVR is 20 years old and works perfectly and have NEVER had a problem gives me confidence this X4500H model will give me at least 10 years of trouble free amazing sound!!
Musically I was concerned about how well my CD’s Vinyl and formats such as Pandora would sound!! I’m using direct mode and bypassing all internal circuitry for clean pure sound through my Klipsch Forte III’s No sub , center or surrounds are being used!! This AVR is Very musicall and wont disappoint anyone!!!i Listening to the first CD I thought the Sub was on and had to make sure it was off and it was. The sub is in auto mode and in Direct mode the sub doesn’t come on but the bass was incredible , live dynamic sound!! I thought my old AVR was going to be hard to beat musically , however , the X4500H is definitely more musical and makes my Klipsch Forte III’s come alive!

It is good to hear that the Denon receiver is working out well for you both for movies and two-channel stereo music listening.

Brian, any update? I am a fan of Denon ( last one I had was the AVR 5700 and it was excellent).

I am now considering Denon again. I went with a Yamaha ( A1070) due to all the positive articles; I am fine with the unit, but miss the Denon brand.

So, any new updates on your X4500H ? Can you adjust voice height? That is where it is 'appearantly' coming from... Its for those folks that hang thier TV"s on a wall and want the voice to appear there ( e.g. some 4 ft or so from the floor)

any feedback on its performance and tweaking you have done is welcomed. I'd be interested in the AUDYSSEY AUDIO OPTIMIZATION & if you used it to your satisfaction.

thanks

Frankhere: I really like the Denon X4500H!! I haven’t even scratched the surface what this unit is capable of , however , I will share my opinion on what I have enjoyed and used so far. First thing I did was play a 4KUltra HD Blue Ray “ King King “ 2006 starring the lovely Naomi Watts. The sound format is Dolby 7.1 Virtual X on this Blue Ray and I only have 1 4K Blue Ray because I didn’t have until now the receiver to process the sound properly. I had a Denon AVR 3300 that was 20 years old and only did Dolby Digital and DTS. Anyway , I put the disc in and what I heard was friggin phenomenal detailed sound , fabulous separation and sound definition. No wonder this new ( new to me ) technology is so well loved and wanted by the general public! I’m using the X4500H in a 5.1 set up and I don’t have “ height speakers “ in my 12’ ceilings , however , I do have extremely efficient Bowers & Wilkins for rear surrounds ) in each corner of my 12’ ceiling in my Great room where my system is located. They are 12 feet up and about 23’ feet apart and 3 feet behind where I sit in my BarcaLounger. This AVR allows me to hear sounds with depth and definition and sounds I never heard before on this blue Ray. Dolby Virtual X is Bad Ass and makes you feel you are in the movie and experiencing what you are watching!! My front right and left mains are Klipsch Forte III’s ( in beautiful American Walnut ) they are incredible and this AVR is feeding them what they have been starving for since I got them in November of last year. My Center is the Klipsch RP-500C and this AVR allows me to hear dialogue like never before. My sub is a Klipsch R-120SW and “ You guesses it , Sounds so alive , realistic and life like. The sub sounds like it’s supposed to sound with deep rich smooth clear and clean low frequencies!! Every step Kong took could be felt and heard. Like I said , in my 5.1 set up , it’s amazing and being a 9.1 capable AVR I can hook up either 4 additional speakers in my existing room or choose to put a pair in my master bedroom and a pair outside on my patio!! I don’t know about the height set up because I’m not using ceiling speakers ( Do Not Need Them )
The 9 individual channel amplifiers in this AVR are designed to perform to any desired level. There is the capability to hook up 11 speakers to this AVR but I won’t be going there anytime soon so I can’t comment on the height you requested info on , sorry about that. Now , on to music compatibility!! Holy cow , the Denon is definitely a very musical AVR and my Klipsch Forte III’s sound so good “ In Direct “ mode I had to double check that the sub was off and it was. I’m hearing instruments and percussion
That I haven’t heard before on CD or Vinyl LP’s!!

The only other AVR that I was seriously considering was the Marantz SR 6014 and researched the 2 AVR’s extremely thoroughly and after reading reviews by professional audio enthusiasts and side by side feature vs feature comparison , the 125 watt per 9 channel Denon out performed the 110 watt per channel Marantz ( but not by a huge margin ) but at the end of the day the Denon X4500H came out on top and since I have been an owner of Denon audio gear since 1989 with 100 % success and satisfaction, I figured , why leave a brand that has made me extremely pleased. I have a Denon DRM 510 3 head with hx pro cassette deck that works and sounds incredible to this day. I have a Denon DCM-360 5 Disc CD Changer purchased in 1996 that I’m still using in my current system and works and sounds amazing!! The AVR that I just replaced Denon AVR 3300 was a Beast and gave me trouble free enjoyable use for exactly 20 years. I think you will be very pleased with this AVR. I hope this mini review helps with your decision.
