The audio quality on my Fire Cube now says 24/192 capable.

The Dac is also reporting 192.

Not too to long ago my device capability was 24/48.

Straight HDMI to my DAC. I have a DAC that accepts HDMI input.

I also have a Fire Cube downstairs that goes HDMI to my surround receiver. It also says that the capability of my device is 24/192. I have not done specific searches on Amazon music, but the highest encoded music I have seen is 24/96 being ultrahd.

I know for a fact my cubes updated this week, and I wonder if the audio capability was increased.

I have that question posted on the Amazon Fire Cube site.

The posts from owners say the Cube does not support 24/192 on Amazon Music HD. I am hoping that just changed this month.

Does your DAC output HDMI video? If the cube streams hi rez audio content watching on the big screen would be a huge plus for me.

Yes my Dac passes the HDMI off to the tv.

So your set up is Amazon Music HD wirelessly to the cube. The cube's HDMI output is connected to your DAC's HDMI input and the DAC's HDMI output connects to your AV receiver. AV receiver's HDMI to TV. Is that correct?

Just curious if somehow your unique HDMI DAC might be tricked into thinking it's receiving the Ultra content? Unlikely though if you can readily perceive the difference in SQ between standard and Ultra.

The output of my DAC goes to analog to my AMP. RCA outs. It also goes HDMI to my tv. When I want to listen to the Amp I just turn it on and mute the TV.

The information on my TV from amazon music states the limitations of my equipment is 24/192.

Found this on the web....

The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and the 3rd-gen Fire TV Stick now support streaming music through Amazon Music HD at up to a 24 bit depth and a 192 kHz sample rate. Previously, the only Fire TV model that was capable of streaming the higher quality music was the 2nd-gen Fire TV Cube.

To stream at the improved quality, you need to have the latest version of the Amazon Music app installed, which is v3.3.581, and you need to manually enable HD audio within the app’s settings menu which can be accessed through the user icon in the upper right corner. Of course, you also need to have an Amazon Music HD subscription.

For the Fire TV Stick 4k, the device needs to be running Fire OS version 6.2.7.7 or greater and for the Fire TV Stick 3, the device needs to be running Fire OS version 7.2.2.3 or greater. Check for updates to both the OS and the Amazon Music app under Settings > My Fire TV > About. It’s unknown if other Fire TV models, such as the Fire TV Stick Lite, are also gaining support for the enhanced audio quality

I purchased the latest 4k Fire Stick this week and it states it has a Device Capability of 16 bit / 192 kHz on all the Ultra HD selections on AMHD. I wonder why I'm not seeing 24 bit/ 192 kHz?

Even more perplexing is the fact that my DAC displays 48 khz even though the 4K Firestick reports 16 bit /196 kHz or 16 bit/ 96kHz from AMHD.

I'm using an HDMI audio extractor to send the Fire Stick's optical signal to the DAC. There's nothing wrong with my DAC as it reads correctly on AMHD streamed from a Node 2i.

I was under the impression audio from the fire devices up or down sampled everything to 24/48 maximum.
