HDtracks download problems

Is it just me, or does anyone else have problems downloading 192kHz/24bit music from HDtracks?

The download has been running for more than 12 hours. I have DSL, so speed shouldn’t be an issue.

The download was stuck at song # 6, repeatedly downloading it.

I rebooted my PC, and restarted the download, and now it has created a subdirectory called “192kHz” – and it’s starting over the download from the first song – even though 5 songs have been successfully downloaded.

This is not the first time that I've experienced this aggravation.

Any thoughts?

I haven't been exactly thrilled with any of the hi-res websites lately. In fact, as far as hi-res downloadable releases go (HDtracks, Linn, etc), the only thing I've truly-liked was the Alan Parsons stuff that Classic Records did ("I Robot" is just incredible", and "Turn Of A Friendly Card" is also great). The rest of it had the resolution, but no warmth. But I haven't lost hope for hi-rez. With clean, 1st-pressing vinyl as a source, a nice $10,000 ripping setup can do amazing things. But for some reason, the music companies are still having trouble getting the job done. The detail is there, but no liveliness. They aren't musical to me. Nearly every SACD I've heard has had that problem, and I see the same thing with most hi-rez downloads I've heard. But some people seem to like that sound (the ultra-present, accurate sound... I call it sterile). I've heard the occasional thing I like, but most of the stuff I've heard from HDtracks and the other sites just sounded too-"digital" for me.

As far as the HDtracks site issues go, I really-don't know. I haven't really had any problems with the actual downloading.

I have never downloaded a 24/192......I did a 24/96 Yes album last year. I do recall it taking sometime but nothing THAT long for sure.
I will not d/l anymore hi-rez files, for the money I don't hear the value or benefit. And really what I listen to nothing is available as hi-rez. Some people swear by them.....but as Gang says I think they like that crystal clean, sterile sound.

To each his own
