Help choosing new integrated amplifier

To use with my Energy C-3 bookshelf speakers. I need a good match.

I don't wanna break the bank, need decente quality and phono.

I also need something that is not very genre specific, I really enjoy classical music, rock, jazz and some pop.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Get yourself a well restored vintage Marantz 1060 integrated amp if you can.:thmbsp:
Comes with phono as well.Highly regarded almost everywhere on AK
and best of all will not cost you an arm and a leg.:music:

These are very nice.

Cheers and Shalom

+1 on the Marantx 6004 Integrated Amp in post #3. You get Full Remote Control, A good Phono Preamp, a rather Neutral Sound for any type of music, and more Importantly Excelent SQ. Marantz has come back with a vengance making even their fine Vintage Recievers (or anybody's else's for that matter) Nearly Obsolete IMO. Unless you want the Nostalgia, Like the Vintage looks or want a good on board FM Tuner (once it's Properly aligned). All of which are legitiment reasons to refurbish one of them, but it won't be cheap for non DIY'ers like me.

How does the Marantz 6004 compare to the Rega Brio R?

I would be ok with vintage BUT I'd rather not go through the hassle of having to fix, restore, etc. It's not that easy to get that done around here.

Thanks again :thmbsp:

I've never heard either of these Amps, so take all comments accordingly, This is based on what I read. I think the Brio-R is closer to the Marantz 8004, and as much as I once liked the Brio-R, I'd probably choose this Marantz 8004. Both it's press and Personal reviews seem to be all Positive, and it appears to be well designed and constructed. For $1,000 Amp that says a lot.

Rega Brio! I'd love a Brio-R, but could happily live with a Brio 3. Hands down, the best integrated amp I've heard under $1000.

Yamaha A-S500 or 700

Ditto - I have the AS-500 and it sounds great with my Klipsch speakers and Dual 1219 TT. The AS-700 costs a little more but has more power. The 500 is less than $450.00. I hear that the Onkyo is pretty good too.
(thats my AS-500 with matching TS-500 tuner in my avitar. Around $700.00 for the works brand new)

I have a Yamaha AX-900 I might be talked out of for the right price. Great phono stage. Pre in and out if you ever wanted to use a seperate pre-amp or EQ. Plenty of power and really nice specs on down to 4 ohms if needed.

pm me if interested.
