High Power Audio-Amplifier Construction Manual

I am fairly new to this hobbie and have never built an electronic project. I have, however, repaired stereo receivers and have a slightly better that basic knowledge of electronics.
I was wondering if anyone has used the book called "High Power Audio-Amplifer Construction Manual". I would like to build an amplifier, possible a SET, and later a tube preamp. Is there any book or website that you could recommend?

I used Randy Sloan on construction of Audiophile amplifiers. I built one of the amp that is rated at 150watts. I personally was surprised it sounded good. I'd like to build another but only if I can find that darn book I bought a few years ago.

You mean tubes, right? High power...how high?

Here is one place to examine. 1000W tube amplifier. He has detailed pictures and a schematic posted.

I would love to do that. That is one priciest project I have ever seen yet. Gonna need a dedicated AC line for that. I can't imagine what those would sound like FULL BLAST!!!

If your looking to build tube amplifiers, I would suggest Morgan Jones' Valve Amplifiers (third edition), and Bruce Rozenlit's Tube Audio Design. They are both available at Amazon.

Wow! 4 813s:drool:

I purchased the book last year and have not built any of the amps as of yet. I have built many others though. There is some helpful info on topologies and power supplies

Another good author is Douglas Self, he has a no nonsense approach to building and starts the book by denouncing some of the audio myths and craziness that pops up in discussion. I got the book from my public library. isbn 0750680725 Audio Power Amplifier Design Handbook

Edit: Looks like you quoted Sloan that book is Solid state, as is the one above.
