(This was orginally posted in the speakers forum, but I realized that it really belonged here.)

Thanks to the extreme kindness of two AK Members, Fotno and MarkAnderson, my ears are currently basking in the warm, clear tones of a pair of AR-2ax's, completely restored with new caps and replacement tweeters (not OEM). Sitting between them is a Pioneer SX-770, also part of the "package".

Words cannot express the gratitude I feel toward these two guys, and there ARE no words to define the difference this upgrade makes to my home audio. Compared to this, I HAD no system before.

BTW, I am "christening" them in the house with a little Vince Guaraldi Trio A Charlie Brown Christmas. This is both a nod to the season, and a concession to the fact that my 3-year-old is already asleep. The Beatles, Warren Zevon, and BareNaked Ladies will have to wait for tomorrow.

I sold my AR2ax's last weekend and I already feel like it was one of the big mistakes of my audio experience. Mine had neither a tweeter upgrade or new caps, but I could have listened to them exclusively for the rest of my years.

This is one great group of folks here. Glad you are enjoying the benefits of the AK magic!

chalk one up for AR

even though the tweets are not OEM in my 3a's I rebuilt, they are one of the speakers I could listen to for hours on end for sure.
 
It's an AR Christmas...

I've really not spent enough time with any high-end audio gear to do anything but sit here in amazement. I'm sure that my ear will eventually become more discerning, but right now I can't imagine anything sounding better than what I'm listening to.

And I might just find that these AR's are the end-all be-all for me, from the comments you guys are making.

What an outrageous Christmas present... :banana:
 
That's nice stuff -- at least the speakers are... never heard an SX-770, but I am sure it's fine. And, indeed, they are two nice guys, IME and IMO.

There is, BTW, a "Feedback" forum for comments like this (generally for transactions, but general praise or complaints could fit there too, I'd think).

Glad you enjoy the little 770... it was a one owner unit before I got it.

And the original owner is/was as anal as I am about taking care of his equipment! :thmbsp:

BTW, a BIG thank you must go out another gentleman, without Scott's (SPL_db) generosity in putting it up in Opt80's auction, the SX-770 couldn't have been part of the package!
