Misc small scores, rambling...

Never seen curvy Dentons before, love that 70's erhm,, style.

If you EVER run across a huge, ugly grey or olive drab radio that says "Rohde & Schwarz Kurzweill Empfanganger EK-07e...
That knid of stuff never happens here... So far at least..

If you EVER run across a huge, ugly grey or olive drab radio that says "Rohde & Schwarz Kurzweill Empfanganger EK-07", & they only want 5 or even 10 euros for it-GRAB IT !! Those are like the Creme De La Creme of the shortwave world....But it weighs 150 lbs, it'll take 2 men & a boy to carry it. Fortunately, there are 4 grab-handles on the case...
You'll have to ship the Valdez over to transport it then, doubt if it'll fit the 924...

Groovy, eh? :D
They were in between plastic cr@p from '90s all-in-ones and some yellowed (ex white) Jamo compact 90s. I'd never seen them either, they sound quite OK.

Actually, it prolly would...Don't the small back seats in a 924/944 fold down, & the hatch lifts up ? Been so long since I've seen a 924, I may be totally wrong...But it WOULD be a tight fit...There were only approx 1000 of those radios made 1958-73, there may be 3 dozen of 'em on my side of the pond, they reportedly cost the West German Gov't $6K in the mid '60s...They have 25 tubes, & about as many transistors, & are, to put it mildly, "Robust"-In the same manner as a Tiger tank. There is some evidence that VERY preliminary design work was started on these sets as part of the Nazi "Wonder weapons" program of late 1944-45....They were designed as "cost no object" sets, receiving superiority was utmost..They could easily pick out Soviet "fleapower" signals that were hidden in the blast of Western blowtorch broadcasters like Deutsche Welle, BBC, & VOA...Mine is a little superior to my R-390As in signal reception, & is VASTLY superior in operator ease. A lot of their use was classified, like the R-390A, & even now, its rumored a few are still in use by certain elements of the Bundeswehr, just as R-390A use today is still a persistent tale...

Yes, the seats fold flat and there is a glass hatch... anyway, as Voltcontrol said there is little chance of that ever happening- though I do find some odd stuff every now and then.

A couple of home-made pics of yesterday's finds plus a couple of (perhaps) interesting things left at the same thrift. Excuse the lack of focus on some pics- the light was fading and I didn't want to use the flash on close-up pics.

The Wharfedales. Nice and dated-looking. One is missing the badge.

The KEF K120s I found last week, with colour-matched duct tape repair. No, I didn't play them like this.

The Aristona RtR. The missing buttons are in my car.

Interesting stuff? Prices are low, but this looks like BOTL- even if in nice shape. The rack is complete save for the amp.

They wanted EUR 15 for this vintage Dual all-in-one. I like the looks but it appears to be a BOTL machine- anyone got more info?

You should be hanged for what you did to those KEF's, please give them to someone who will recone them (me me me me :D)

If you PM or mail me your address I'll send you Wharfedale badges voor noppes (that's for free in Dutch ;) )

I didn't mistreat those KEFs- bought them like that and intend to refoam them as a first excercise. If you're looking for nice, cheap small speakers I'd be happy to keep an eye out for you. Those KEFs cost me EUR 5... there's usually a pair of nice speakers here every two weeks or so.

PM sent...

AWESOME scores-And I was pretty much just teasing you on the EK-07..Not many people other than a full-bore Raving Loony like me would ever want one of those...It WOULD be fun to have The Mighty Valdez over there-you'd never have to worry again if you "Had the Room" in the car to bring something home...Now FEEDING The Mighty Valdez, uhh, well, that's another story...(grin)

Thanks for the offer Gewoonmaf, I'll take you up on it. :)

These are coming your way, posted them just now. (They are from a couple of beat up rectangular Denton I's btw)

Figured that, but it's fun to go along...

And shipping that receiver over to you would be 'interesting'.

No kiddin'....It weighs 152 lbs, figure another 50lbs or so for a STURDY wooden box...FedEx shipping to America...Aye, Caramba ! The shipping charges alone would bankrupt an Arab Oil Sheik...I DID pick mine up a couple of times by myself...but that was a good 10 yrs ago, before I buggered my knee up, & I decided that I REALLY didn't want to, or even NEEDED to pick up "Der Weinerschnitzel " again....Discretion IS the better part of valor, after all...(grin)

The ad to that old one says Freq 220/400 MHZ, the new one states the model no. so you can probably find it.

Yeah, saw that after I posted...A lot of the "Public Service" agencies here have gone to "scrambled" comms, they got tired of people listening to them on their scanners & then driving by & checking out a bad car wreck or fire, basically getting in the way..

Same here, we now have a digital system called C2000. Which cost an absolute fortune to develop and implement, only to find that the cops have problems using the system.

EDIT: added pics of the Yamaha speakers I got last Monday. Love them, very clear and open reproduction.

Last day off, back to work tomorrow. Whilst in Belgium I happened by a boot sale, and resisted a nice-looking DD Realistic TT, because the guy was asking EUR 50 (took it down to 40 immediately when I didn't bite) and there was no way to test it. At EUR 15-20 I'd have taken the chance but not at 40. Also, I'm no pro at bargaining in French. :)

However I'm now back home and I couldn't resist another visit to the local thrift. Came away with two interesting finds: a Sansui timer (didn't have one yet, will make a nice high end alarm clock someday) and a very nice Denon tray-loading cassette deck. Been looking at one of those for some time because one of my systems requires one for the form factor (I hate sawing holes in a nice audio rack) and the price was very right indeed. I think I recall reading that the early '90s weren't Denon's finest hour and both these probably qualify as BPC in most members' opinions, but they work fine for me and you can't even buy a decent meal for the prices. I bet they'll last longer than said meal, and sound better. :)

Paid EUR 12 for everything, can't find any defects or problems. Everything works as intended.

Forgot about this one, was given to me last week (had to pay EUR 6 shipping):
