"Monster Receiver" Site - Missing

240 Volts

Strange, yet oddly normal
Just went to have a look at AK member VintageStereo's "Monster Receiver" website only to find that it appears to have gone missing. Anyone know if the URL has changed or is it just me being particularly incompetent? :scratch2:

Come to think of it, vintagestereo hasn't been around lately. His monster receiver site was really good, too. Great pictures and comments.

He's doing fine... just decided to move on... I think he still lurks here from time to time.

I heard he finally found a Technics receiver that he liked and he's been living in denial ever since. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yeah...I enjoyed his posts and site and noticed it was gone the other day when I was looking for his info on the Yamaha CR-1000. Hope he puts the site back up and posts here again...

Now thats funny!!

Now all things aside, I liked Chris but unless you had top of the line he didnt have much good to say about it. I had a few run ins with him myself about it. I don't know maybe he just felt most of us were not in his calibre.

I wish he would come back though as some of his posts were thoroughly enjoyable..........

Chris is around. He had a little misunderstanding a few weeks ago and touched a few nerves. He strayed from celebrating our hobby. I say, tone it down a little, stick to celebrating what you own and let others enjoy their gear.

I miss vintagestereo - I thought he was one of the best thread starters on the site. Always thought-provoking topics offered in the spirit of sparking discussions relevant to the forum. Maybe it's just me - I too have a soft spot for those old silver battleships, and I thoroughly enjoyed the expertise he offered regarding them.

Chris - hope you're doin' well, and hope to hear from ya soon! :thmbsp:

Yes Sir,

Hello, I did email Chris, where in the hell are you? and we wrote back and forth a few times. He told me he was moving on and decided to get into other things. I told him Bullsh_t. If vintage is in your blood it's hard to give up!!! I liked some of his threads. He actually was cool to me. :thmbsp: I hope he comes back. He is laying low. Jay. :smoke:

I met Chris twice for lunch and in person, he is a decent fellow. Chris has encyclopedic knowledge of vintage and he knows what he wants and more importantly, why. What Chris likes to do is to in his own words "stir the pot" and impose his opinions on others. If done in moderation, this approach is entertaining. However, Chris goes too far and starts bashing. Personally, I couldn't care less but because our messages are posted on an open forum, IMO, he is doing a disservice to casual viewers who are researching their gear.

I think his Monster Website is terrific for what it is. If he were to serve the general public and include all Monsters, his website would be the standard bearer for all enthusiast sites. That is how good I think it is and can be. Sadly, the monsters he promotes on M.R. are the ones he owns and presumeably bought for less than $300. Because of this limitation, Chris has never been able to escape the charge of self-promotion. I have never been able to resolve his under $300 rants with his celebration of new "mile high club" members. I hope that the site is down for re-tooling and comes back soon.

Agreed, I hope Chris comes back but I also hope he can tone it down.

I liked the Monster site. If it weren't for that I would be still listening to mp3s on my laptop. Pretty sad. I would have never found AK and made the friends that I have. It was a great stepping stone.

Most all information is biased. Check the news lately? It's full of it. You just need to discern what is important and makes sense to you and forget the rest.

Cheers

Well, he hasn't completely left. He's posted 8 times to 2 different threads in the last week. He had disappeared for the 9 or 10 days prior to that, though.

Well said, I agree 100%

As a TOTL Fisher collector,he has gave me positave support in the past and assured me that a RS-2015 was well worth owning, and didnt bash me when I bought a RS-1080 and the rest of them. Now that I have the RS-2015 and the RS-1080 both,I do like the RS-1080 better but he was still right..The RS-2015 is well worth owning also,,it's not a RS-1080 but it's a hell of a receiver :thmbsp:
