My boombox

But the very crudity of it is the allure... it transcends its existence as a primitive, utilitarian object. :nerd:

Nicely done! :thmbsp: Instead of worrying about scratching up some $1,000 collectible boombox, you can actually USE that thing when outdoors painting graffitti or breaking up rocks in the yard or whatever it is you do outdoors (okay, probably washing the car or mowing the lawn... :D), without worrying about scratching it!

I've thought about making one, perhaps in some kind of sci-fi/futuristic/alien-esque casing, probably using a cassette and cd drive from an automotive system (and/or maybe, dare I say it, an iPod) as sources. Just too many other projects with a higher priority for me these days, though. Maybe one day...

Paint it yellow and put black waffle grills on it to make it look like one of those construction site boom boxes.

Pretty cool Ray!

I'd cover it in black vinyl and put nickel-plated corner protectors on. Some silver grille cloth, too. I'm a sucker for anything that looks like an old Fender amp.

Ah, but methinks the pretentiousness of your erudite, loqacious circumlocution is a bit ponderous....

I prefer to think of it as grandiloquent...

...regardless of whether it is pompous or ponderous.

I take exception to that (I work construction, electrician) and I'm sensitive. DeWalts are battery chargers with a radio attached. I use a Milwaukee radio which has survived 8 foot falls with no (alright a dent) ill effects. $79 delivered. Digital clock so I know when break time is. I did modify it to take DeWalt batteries though (that's what all the contractors use). I'm sure I could build one that sounds better but $79 is hard to beat. Actually I did build one for my neighbor (looks more like the bosch cube). Pine box with some old cassette stereo he had. Tractors (he drives for yellow freight)apparently have 12V studs on the dash or something as he wanted alligator clips. I dunno, but he's happy. I wonder what could fit in a Radio Flyer...
