I saw that

Be interested to see if it gets to the average. It is above what I paid for mine including shipping already. Not very smart in my opinion but you never know.Selling it in 2 pieces should lower the value.1 is not fully functional without the other.Although if the first piece is won then the 2nd might go for more due to the winner of the first piece doing whatever it takes to get the second.

Dang, I never thought of it before, but now I'm wonderin if I oughta cut my '69 Trans Am in half & sell it in 2 pieces?!?!

Dang!! Whatta I take...top or bottom? :scratch2:

I wrote him and said that although the tuner/preaamp is usable by itself, the amplifier is not. I got a reply:
Well... We've been reconsidering ourselves. We think you're right. We are going to end both auctions and repost both units in one auction. Thanks & comments appreciated. Best -C.

This oughta be good.

EW, you 'da MAN! Should be fun to see the reaction from his two dozen or so bidders. Saw this when it first came on & thought this guy's either a moron or a shrewd, greedy a**hole. Now the word dipstick comes to mind.

And oh, Kevin, you've proven yourself as a true connoisseur of photography. Most people wouldn't recognize my avatar as one of the finest pictures ever taken of the Lake Waco dam, even partially obscured as it is. What ya have in mind, one of them two-part panoramic picture thingy's on your living room wall??

I'll take whatever I can get there... :lurk:

Was Sansui the only firm to design a seperate pream/tuner assembly and power amp as a single model? Did Sansui offer to sell the two componets seperately (probably not if the amp won't work standalone) ?

I always thought that this Sansui design was a little ackwards, the way the two componets wire up and also the side connections for all line level and speaker connections. However I think the concept was a very good idea, that is including the preamp and tuner into one peice that then hooks up to a single amp module. I seem to recall a few firms offering preamp/tuner combined componets but I don't recall the firms nor the models. Kind of the best of both worlds between receivers and seperate components... I wish that more manufactures had offered such designs....

I think Sansui was the only two piece receiver during that period. Part of what makes it unique is the two power transformers. As far as I know, the G-22000 and G-33000 were the only two receivers of the era to use seperate toroidial power transformers for each channel. Other receivers claimed seperate power supplies but only these units carried all the way through to dual transformers.

Well, some are looking at the auction and others at The avatar.
IMHO, Neither will work, cut in half, any way you slice it! :D
