Sonic speakers

I bought some stereo equipment at and auction recently. I got it for next to nothing. This pair of speakers was among the items. The only name I can find on them is Sonic. They are in a woodgrain cabinet with removable front grilles so I would say they are from the 80s. The cabinet dementions are 23" tall,13" wide by 10" deep. They have an 8 inch woofer,5 inch midrange and 3 inch tweeter plus a port. They also have both RCA plug and screw terminals. Has anyone on here heard of this brand? Are they decent or just mediocre? They look nice and are in great shape.

Does it say Sonic, or Sonics? I believe that I read that Sonics was the name on a cheaper line offered by Pioneer. Sonic doesn't ring a bell.

You know, I saw some of those at the GW today too. I passed them up for some Sansuis with the pretty wooden grille though. You've got me wondering what these things are though.

And FWIW, I can't use the search function effectively either. Seems like anything I search for brings up hundreds of threads that may or may not contain my search term.

I must admit though, I'm better with records than the interwebs.

I remember Sonic speakers very well. Had owned a couple pair way back in my early teens. They were around in the late '70s and were typically carried by big box retailers. I also recall there being some connection to Pioneer. Sort of the "poor man's Pioneer" if you will- no disrespect intended.
