I just received a SX525 receiver.
How do I hook up the speaker wires?
The connections on the back are different from my SX750.
Do I need special ends to put on the wires?
Thanks everyone

Welcome to AK, pal!

You'll like that Pioneer SX-525 receiver, but you will need to buy a pair of those goofy speaker plugs. My SX-626 uses them too and they're a pita, but they do work well. A nice set of two-way speakers would be a good match for that receiver. I think it's rated at about 20w/ch., but that info will all be in the Pioneer database. Be sure to give the phono stage a try too, they sound great with a good MM cartridge. Enjoy! :music:

Pioneer speaker plugs

Here's a previous post:
That link could get the thread bounced to $ & c

here's a picture found by googling "pioneer speaker plugs", and clicking on images
and there will be a few vendors that pop up, some are expen$ive!!

then there's a way to get cinch inline connectors, cut off one of the three pins and use it as well:
(from electronicplus.com , part # P303CCT @ $4.95 ea no affiliation)
You do not have to cut the center pin on the electronicplus plug - it easily disassembles and you can just remove it completely.
Great!! Thanks Oz!!! :D

third option:

Adapt in some spring terminal connectors, pull and save the old ones JIC...
(that's what I would do, with some tinted acrylic sheet as the adaer)

You are right on with this receiver. My wife found a perfect mint one of these for $25 since it had about 25 years of finger smudge, but otherwise in new condition, even the wood case is perfect.

I connected it up to a pair of EPI 100V 2 ways, very good sounding, decided to recap right off the bat. Its my best condidtion piece of gear, and does look cool with the blue dial theme.

Thanks!!

Thanks to you all for your help. I now understand what to use.
And thanks also for making me welcome to this wonderful site.
