Technics 1600MK2 size selector driving me mad

Hi all.
Everything works except size select for 7 inch records.
The tonearm moves all the way up then immediately back down.
On 12inch everything ok.
With no disc on platter it starts moving up just a little ( not all the way up like with 7inch record on) then back down and platter stops.
So the size leds do work.
I measured them they do give a value of 1015 something but dont light up.
Probably not the typical leds. Maybe infrared?

It did move to 7inch position only once and never again.
Any ideas?

Otherwise works great. I invested alot of time in this TT. Installed rca terminals cardas rewired the tonearm changed belt and gear..

Thx for the tip. I use my phone camera to check remote controls.
But i think these are only lighting up at certain moments during autostart process.
I'll give it a try.

You can check the IR leds by viewing with a security camera, same as checking remote controls.
possible smartphone, digi camera

Tried it doesn't work. LEDs won't light up.
But LED signal does work because without a record on, it wont play.
Its just on 7inch its the problem.
Tonearm just lifts all the way up and back down. It won't move to the platter.

If i disconnect the cable from the LEDs it just drops the stylus on 12inch position every time.

By any chance, is the 7" 45 you're using a colored disc? On most colored discs, and even some black ones, enough light can leak through from the LED that the sensor can read it as no disc. Pioneer was aware of this and included a circular piece of opaque black paper with the MK2. By placing the paper on the platter and then placing the record directly on it, the LEDs were effectively blocked and the turntable behaved as if there were a (12") disc on the platter.
