Hi All,
How any of you have a DIY wall mounting bracket for your Rega P8 or P10? If so, how did it work for you
you and can you please post pics.
One more question please, how would the Pro-Ject's Wall Mount it 5 work compared to the Rega Wal Mount.
Thanks

Any type of wall mount for your table will be an improvement for isolation. A couple other factory wall mounts to keep an eye out for are Target and Sound Organization. If lucky you might find one of them on Craigslist for short money or other sites for free saving the work of building one. Same goes for the factory Rega and Project wall shelves.

Very nice work, @Aud10file! l really like the shelf below it too where there is room to keep other pieces and accessories. @roa5100xx, I've done something similar and the components are readily available at either Home Depot or Lowes. Just make sure you find two wall studs, they're typically at 16" apart and you can use a stud finder if you have one. You'll need to drill some guide holes first and use sturdy, long wood screws to fasten the brackets with.

You'll want two of these:

Project Source 15.63-in L x 1.16-in W x 10.5-in D Heavy Duty White Shelf Bracket in the Shelving Brackets & Hardware department at Lowes.com

Mounting them on the wall so the shelf will be as level as possible is very important. Not that you can't make small adjustments with shims later, but try to get things as plumb as you can to start with and your job will be that much easier.

Next, find yourself a shelf that pleases you. Some like cutting boards, butcher block type of thing, others prefer solid oak, maple, or even plywood works surprisingly well. In my experience, I really liked the sound of the table sitting on a piece of 1/2 inch plywood but then I came into a piece of quarzite, 1 1/4 inch, that was cut for me to the size I wanted and that won out but mainly because I'm a sucker for things that I think look nice! No need to spend hundreds of dollars on something that might not even work as well as one you design for shape, size and materials.....

Here's a few pictures of mine and you will soon get the idea. This is my main table, the one with the quarzite shelf. Left click the pictures to enlarge:

And then my office system, where I have a couple tables on wall shelves making it really easy to access them and besides, I like the look:

It's easy to cover them up as well since the shelf puts them in a pretty ideal position. I chose to have my cover made by a company that specializes in these things, which is also why I was intent on deciding upon the dimensions of my shelf, which provides for ample room for the table, shelf and the light which I highly recommend as well......see, I bet the wheels are already spinning amigo!!! Here's one with the cover:

Whatever you do will be fine and one thing I'm pretty sure of is that you will not regret putting your table on a wall shelf. To me, it just isolates it so much better than any other method I tried and the result is that your stylus is better protected from unwanted resonance which, I believe, gives you far better sound. I would also add that if you like to play a bit loud, I've found a shelf to be extremely helpful in avoiding woofer pumping, although that can still happen for other reasons. Have some fun and let us know what you come up with amigo!

My old wall mount was two very sturdy L-brackets mounted with six half inch expansion bolts to a brick wall, and two hexagonal 40 lbs pavers as the shelf. I thought it looked quite nice with my DQX-500 but it did suffer from a low WAF:(

Hi All,
Thanks for replying to my post. A lot of good info here on mounting Rega turntables on a wall, hope
I can use some of it. At this point I am leaning toward the Pro-ject, but maybe a DIY shelf.
Thanks again.
Herbert

With the Thorens TD 125, 126 and other similar models with a heavy well damped assembly floating on a self contained suspension you do not need to worry about foot falls or acoustic feed back. Shown in these two photos the Thorens is right up against the Concert Grands which put out a ton of bass. The Miracord was used for back ground playing. It was replaced with an Ampex F-4460. The Aluminum foil under the Thorens was there to stop hum which the Ortofon SPE generated. I still have the cabinet, speakers, and Thorens but with a Rabco arm now. Everything else has been replaced.
